Development And Active Support Ends In December 2026 After Riot's Ambitious Fighting Game Experiment!

Story Highlight
  • Riot Games is ending active 2XKO development and support in December 2026.
  • The game will continue to stay online, and the team is even refunding in-game purchases made before August 20.
  • This decision is quite shocking since Riot Games hoped to support the fighting game for years to come.

After years of excitement and anticipation for 2XKO, the game seems to be going out rather abruptly. Just months after its full release, Riot Games has announced that it is ending support for the title.

Why it matters: After establishing its place in the first-person shooter genre with Valorant, Riot Games aimed to do the same among the fighting game crowd. However, the team seems to have failed in this regard.

Riot Games is preparing to move on from 2XKO development and support in 2026, as active development and support for 2XKO will end in December 2026.

According to the studio’s official announcement, the final content patch will also arrive in October. The good news, if there is any here, is that fans will get to continue playing the game since Riot Games isn’t pulling servers offline.

Moreover, the team will refund in-game purchases and spending as long as they were made before August 20.

Riot Games has already struggled with layoffs in the past, so this announcement is unlikely to bode well for the team.

It remains to be seen how the studio will move forward after this major setback, but 2XKO’s untimely death is undoubtedly a huge blow to the millions of fans who enjoyed the title.
