Story Highlights
- 007 First Light has reached 4 million sales in less than three months.
- The milestone points to strong demand for IO Interactive’s take on James Bond.
- The game’s success strengthens the case for more Bond projects after launch.
007 First Light has crossed 4 million units sold in less than three months, according to a new GamesPress release. This is a major milestone for IO Interactive, especially since the studio is working with one of the most recognizable spy franchises in entertainment.
The game had already generated plenty of attention before launch, and we previously discussed why 007 First Light had such strong interest from fans. Still, hitting 4 million this quickly shows that the excitement turned into actual sales.

James Bond Is Off To A Strong Start
For IO Interactive, this milestone matters beyond just one successful launch. The studio is best known for Hitman, so 007 First Light was always going to be judged by how well it handled stealth, action, gadgets, and the broader Bond fantasy.
Selling 4 million copies in under three months suggests the game found a solid audience early. It also shows that James Bond still has real pull in gaming when the project is handled with the right tone and production value.
This is not just a small licensed-game win. It is a sign that players were willing to show up for a new Bond game after years without a major modern entry.
The Campaign Length Likely Helped
007 First Light also came with a fairly approachable structure. IO Interactive previously targeted an average campaign length of around 20 hours, which gave the game enough room to feel complete without becoming a massive time commitment.
That likely worked in its favor. A focused action-stealth campaign is easier to recommend than another oversized open-world release, especially for players who want a polished story-driven experience. Our previous report on the 20-hour campaign also pointed to IO Interactive aiming for a balanced runtime rather than padding.
Of course, sales alone do not confirm long-term player retention or future DLC plans. However, 4 million units this early gives the studio a very strong base to build from.
