- Dishonored director Harvey Smith has announced a new studio, Black Pony Immersive.
- The team also includes other former Arkane Austin developers after the team was shut down in 2024.
- The studio is focused on immersive sims, keeping Smith close to Dishonored territory.
Xbox officially shut down Arkane Austin in 2024, and Arkane Lyon’s fate also hangs in the balance following reports of Marvel’s Blade exceeding its budget.
Amid the studio’s decline, former Arkane veteran and Dishonored director Harvey Smith has come forward with a major announcement. The developer has opened his very own gaming studio.
Why it matters: The lack of games like Dishonored has left a major gap in the market, one that this new studio intends to fill.

Harvey Smith has announced a new studio called Black Pony Immersive. Smith is joined by fellow Arkane Austin veterans at Black Pony Immersive.
As per the Dishonored director, the entire team has a particular fondness for immersive sims, and it will continue pushing the boundaries of what is capable in the genre. Moreover, the studio has offered a particular description for the type of games it intends to make.
Black Pony Immersive will remain focused on creating first-person immersive action-RPGs. These games will also focus on emerging experiences and lively worlds, something that has made past Arkane games quite special.
Harvey Smith has been joined by Redfall production director Ben Horne in Black Pony Immersive’s first official debut.

Together with other developers who have been part of Arkane’s legacy, Harvey Smith and Ben Horne hope to reignite the same passion for immersive sims that the team once had. As such, it will be interesting to see what they come up with in the future.
