Xbox Now Refunding Players Who Purchased Redfall Premium Edition

Aftermath of Arkane Austin's Closure!

Story Highlight
  • Arkane Austin, the studio behind Redfall, was recently shut down.
  • Last year, the team sold the game’s Bite Back edition, which promised two DLCs that were not released at the time of this studio’s closure.
  • Since the DLC won’t be released anymore, Microsoft has begun refunding the players.

Many fans would know by now what a disaster Redfall was on release. The game was released in such a poor state that fans claimed it wasn’t even worth $10, which speaks volumes.

While the game was in this state, Arkane Austin also remained fairly silent throughout last year, which was concerning for fans. Some even bought the Bite Back premium edition at release, which promised two DLCs.

This cost $100, but to this date, there is no sign of a single DLC. However, Xbox has now started refunding players who bought this edition.

Why it matters: Arkane Austin has now been closed, meaning the developer can no longer provide players with the promised DLCs, so refunds are the only option now.

Refall is Arguably One of the Worst Games Xbox Has Ever Launched

Many Redditors have reported receiving refunds from Microsoft for buying the Redfall Bite Back edition. However, do note that the gaming giant isn’t refunding the entire game since it is only refunding the extra cost it took to buy the premium edition.

A fan has claimed that they received $32.08 back. Some people on Reddit have claimed that they never requested a refund, and yet they still receive an email refunding the sum.

This is a good move from Xbox as it is taking responsibility for the mess up. That said, those who bought the physical edition are still concerned about compensation, as they have yet to receive a refund.

While they have the physical edition, it doesn’t have those DLCs and will never have them. Therefore, Xbox needs to come up with similar refund plans. Such players have filled out the application for a refund, so hopefully, they will be able to get their refund soon enough.

Right now, it is unclear whether the credit is being transferred back to the user’s bank account or the Microsoft account. Most people have just received emails regarding the refund, so it is only a matter of time before this becomes clear.

It should be noted that Arkane Austin has launched a final update before closure. The team’s last update did not add the DLC, but it still introduced features like the offline mode.
