Xbox has recently gone back and forth on Game Pass pricing as it struggles to come to terms with the subscription’s long-term future and direction.

Under CEO Asha Sharma’s leadership, Xbox Game Pass appears to be constantly evolving, and new reports suggest Microsoft is now testing dynamic pricing for the subscription service.

Why it matters: Xbox Game Pass’ value lies in its pricing, so Microsoft appears to be trying all it can to nail this element of the service further. Reports suggest the service will even offer further flexibility soon.

As reported on Reddit, Xbox Game Pass is currently being tested with custom pricing options for new customers.

User r/synthlov3r’s recent post shows that he was offered Game Pass Ultimate for a little over $16/month for an entire year compared to the standard cost of $23/month, marking a 30% discount.

Other reports suggest Xbox has offered prices around $18 and $20/month as part of the initiative. Note that Microsoft states that the discount lasts for the first 12 months, after which Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will renew at its standard price.
