Hope For World of Warcraft Fans on Consoles!

Story Highlight
  • A console version of World of Warcraft has been highly requested.
  • Blizzard confirms that it is still considering a new version for this game.
  • The gaming giant has also teased that something is in the works.

Blizzard Entertainment has worked on some of the biggest titles in the industry, and one of them is World of Warcraft, an MMORPG launched over two decades ago.

PC has always been the home of this franchise, but modern gaming has blurred the lines between platforms. Therefore, it is no surprise that console gamers are interested in World of Warcraft, and it seems Blizzard is keen on delivering a version of them.

Why it matters: While World of Warcraft doesn’t necessarily need more players, opening it up to consoles would only improve the game due to a larger audience.

World of Warcraft Is Set To Receive A New Expansion This Year

During a recent interview with VGC, the vice president and executive producer of World of Warcraft, Holly Longdale, addressed the possibilities of console versions and discussed how things have changed after becoming a part of the Xbox family.

We still talk about it(console version).

Blizzard has made similar comments in the past. However, in a separate interview, the same executive went a step further. She cleverly hinted that plans were in motion, but she was unable to share anything.

No, that’s all I’ll say.

The executive also discussed how things have only changed for the good of the developers ever since they were acquired by Microsoft. According to Holly Longdale, the developers have no pressure, and Microsoft isn’t asking them to do things differently.

World of Warcraft’s vice president is proud of her team’s effort. She states that Blizzard has accomplished a lot over the years, thanking Microsoft for letting the team stay true to its vision.

It is also interesting to note that Blizzard may be working on a mobile version of World of Warcraft. Therefore, this IP could expand to more than just console platforms in the future.
