Ubisoft Cancelled Many Games, Leading To A Light Release Schedule!

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft says it has no major game releases planned for 2026 beyond AC Black Flag Resynced.
  • It plans to announce premium games from established brands later this year to early next year.
  • Its major brands, including AC, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon, will see more game launches from next year.

Ubisoft’s restructuring earlier this year led to studio closures, layoffs, and project cancellations, and it expects to face turbulent times for the rest of the year. Black Flag Resynced has been a step in the positive direction, but it’s unclear if the studio can retain this momentum in the future.

The developer now admits it will face a quieter time for the rest of the year after the Black Flag remake’s release. Since the studio has cancelled multiple games, it appears to have no title lined up for 2026 anymore.

Why it matters: Cancelling multiple anticipated projects deep into development might not have been the wisest choice for Ubisoft. This has left a large gap in the company’s release cadence, which could prove to be devastating for the recovering company.

Ubisoft's annual report mentions that its major money-making IPs will only see game releases starting in FY 2027-2028.
Ubisoft’s annual report mentions that its major money-making IPs will only see game releases starting in FY 2027-2028.

Ubisoft lists this dilemma in its annual 2026 report, insinuating that this year, beyond Black Flag Resynced, will only include announcements for premium games based on established brands.

The fiscal year 2026-27 line-up will include Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, alongside other targeted premium games based on established Ubisoft brands that will be announced at a later date.

Since FY 2026-2027 ends in March next year, we could see something launching in early next year. Rumors have also suggested that Ubisoft plans to launch Far Cry 7 and AC Hexe next year, so it’s highly unlikely we’ll see any more major releases in 2026.

Ubisoft expects a lighter release schedule until FY 2027-2028, when it will see launches across major brands, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon.

The outlook reflects this lighter new release slate,
continued investment ahead of stronger releases in fiscal year 2027-28.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe is expected to be Ubisoft’s next AC game.

Unless these major projects face even more internal delays, we could be hearing about Hexe and Far Cry 7 soon enough
