- The Steam Frame reportedly starts at $1,059, with the 1TB model priced at $1,299.
- Valve is bundling Half-Life: Alyx with the headset, giving buyers its biggest VR title out of the box.
- Much like it did the Steam Machine, the launch price will likely hold the Steam Frame back.
Valve’s recent Steam Machine launched at prices nobody saw coming, and rumors suggested the same would be the case for the Steam Frame.
The gaming giant has officially announced Steam Frame pricing today, and while things aren’t quite as bad as some expected, the VR headset will still set you back a whopping $1,000.
Why it matters: The Steam Frame might become yet another extremely niche Valve hardware product mainly due to its exorbitant price.

Valve’s new Steam Frame headset will start above $1,000, with the base model priced at $1,059, while the 1TB variant comes in at $1,299. The headset will also ship with Half-Life: Alyx, which remains one of the strongest showcases for PC VR gaming.
Of course, it’s no secret why Valve’s pricing structure has been so ridiculous lately. The gaming giant continues to feel the impact of memory shortages and rising prices, leading to what have been a very stressful few months.
Those interested in purchasing the headset must go through the process of signing up for a list of eligible buyers randomly selected by Valve. Registrations for the list are open for the next two days.
Note that Valve does not ship the Steam Frame with a power adapter. However, the gaming giant says any USB-C charger rated at 45W can be used to power the Steam Frame, with the Steam Deck charger also compatible.

Unfortunately, the Steam Frame’s price has become a major point of contention already. Many say that it seems worse than the Meta Quest 3 despite being significantly more expensive.
