Bethesda's Chance At Redemption!

Story Highlights
  • Starfield is set to receive the Shattered Space DLC this year.
  • An update to the SteamDB page suggests that this DLC will be revealed soon.
  • The expansion could help Bethesda bounce back after the recent decline in players.

Seven months after Starfield’s launch, Bethesda is still updating the title and working toward future improvements. However, the studio has yet to address the Shattered Space expansion.

Announced before the game’s release, this DLC will expand the vast universe of Starfield with more content. While no official release date has been revealed, a SteamDB update hints that an announcement is coming soon.

Why it matters: Starfield’s perception is mixed seven months after release. However, a game like Cyberpunk 2077 turned things around once the excellent Phantom Liberty was released, so a similar comeback is possible for Bethesda’s ambitious RPG.

It has been spotted that Starfield’s SteamDB listing has been updated to reveal an ‘unknown app’ in the DLC section. Such updates have been followed by DLC reveals for other games in the past.

Bethesda’s previous game also followed a similar path, with the downloadable content being available in the same tab for titles like Fallout 4. Therefore, a new trailer with more details could be around the corner.

Shattered Space is not the only planned expansion for the game. Bethesda previously confirmed a 2024 launch for the DLC, so the update suggests that more information will be revealed very soon.

Since Xbox is also returning with its showcase in June, an announcement could be followed by a launch around this event.

Starfield Has Been Played By Over 12 Million Players

Shattered Space presents an opportunity to breathe new life into Starfield. The game’s player base has dropped at a concerning pace, making its future uncertain in 2024.

Meanwhile, older games like Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3 still have higher player counts on Steam. The former went through a resurgence recently, so we hope to see a similar pattern for Starfield once the DLC arrives.
