Stalker 2 Will Not Be Showed At The Xbox Games Showcase

No Stalker Footage At The Showcase!

After a decade since the last Stalker title, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is expected to release soon. The game is currently slated for 2023, and it looks extremely promising in the promotional material.

The title is also set to arrive on Xbox Game Pass, with Microsoft having a marketing deal for the game. However, it seems Stalker 2 will not be featured at the Xbox showcase on June 11.

Why it matters: The lack of Stalker 2 at the Xbox Games Showcase could be a concerning sign, potentially hinting at a delay for the game.

As seen above, developer GSC Game World was asked about the game’s presence at the upcoming showcase. However, the developer clarified that Stalker 2 would skip the showcase, with future updates coming in the next few months.

Previously, GSC Game World has suffered from hacks, with over 200GB of data being leaked online. Following the leak, a playable build was also leaked, and this has likely affected development.

Stalker 2 has faced hacking attacks and threats for nearly a year. This, in addition to the ongoing war in Ukraine, has led to several development hurdles. While the developer has not said anything about a potential delay, it would not be far-fetched to estimate that Stalker 2 might be pushed into 2024.

The game will be set deep within the dangerous Exclusion Zone, using Unreal Engine 5 to bring the post-apocalyptic world to life. While fans may be disappointed at the lack of presence at the upcoming event, Stalker 2 is shaping up to be an exciting entry into the iconic franchise.
