Splitgate Dev Reveals New Titanfall-Inspired Shooter, Early Access Launch Coming This Year

The Game's Steam Page Has Quietly Gone Live!

Story Highlight
  • Splitgate developer has announced Empulse, a Titanfall-like 6v6 movement shooter.
  • The game includes mechs and features like wall-running and grappling hooks.
  • It is meant to launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 later this year in early access.

Fans have craved a new Titanfall game for years, but EA has no intentions to revive the IP. A recent report claimed that 1047 Games, the studio behind Splitgate, was working on a Titanfall-inspired series to fill the gap, which excited many gamers.

Now, the studio has silently launched a Steam page and an official site for the game ahead of a reveal trailer. It is expected to be shown during the Summer Game Fest event.

Why it matters: The Splitgate studio has to meet the huge expectations of Titanfall fans and secure a large active player base for Empulse to be a successful live-service venture. This is easier said than done in today’s industry landscape.

1047 Games describes the project as a fast-paced 6v6 movement shooter on Steam, where you have to outmaneuver your opponents and pilot mechs through the vertical streets of Freehold to dominate others.

EMPULSE is an upcoming fast-paced 6v6 movement shooter launching Early Access in 2026.

Expect to wallrun, grapple, holojump, and use boost pads around the maps for Titanfall-like movement mechanics. The mechs reportedly spawn in maps and can be used by players during matches, but the methods of obtaining them could change later.

Each mech is also expected to have different abilities and playstyles, but not many details are known yet.

It is a movement shooter experience, with maps designed for wall-run and grapple mechanics.

The spiritual successor to Titanfall is in a pre-alpha stage at the moment, and an early access launch is planned for later in 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Regardless, Titanfall fans online are quite skeptical for now.

Empulse is a do-or-die moment for 1047 Games because its last entry, Splitgate 2, flopped hard since it failed to retain players even after a relaunch.

Do you think Empulse will live up to the hype of being a spiritual successor to Titanfall, or will this movement shooter appear more like a knock-off? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
