The company is in turmoil, and due to this condition, there were rumors that the remake has been quietly canceled. However, fans should rest assured that this isn’t the case at all. Just recently, an insider revealed that the remake is making progress at Ubisoft and is being built in the Snowdrop Engine

Why it matters: Splinter Cell, released back in 2002, is still praised to this date for its stealth. While Ubisoft is updating the story for modern audiences, fans still appreciate it, bringing one of the old classics.

One of the most reliable industry insiders has recently revealed that the remake has not been canceled, and it is making progress. He also revealed that the game is being developed under the codename North, and the team is using the Snowdrop engine.

For reference, this engine was used to develop games like The Division 2, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Previously Ubisoft Toronto also faced some layoffs, and the recent condition of Ubisoft had the fandom worried about the Splinter Cell Remake. However, they don’t have to worry anymore as the remake is being developed.

Previously, the remake was expected to be released in 2025-26, but the insider has suggested that it is more likely to be released in 2026. However, the release window hasn’t been confirmed, so it can be changed at any time.
