Silent Hill: Townfall Reportedly Skipping Xbox, ESRB Listing Reveals

Expert Verified By

Silent Hill 2 Remake Also Skipped Xbox Back In 2024.

Story Highlight
  • Silent Hill Townfall is skipping Xbox at launch, according to the game’s ESRB rating.
  • The title will only release on PS5 and PC, as its website has been suggesting for a while.
  • Silent Hill: F became the fastest-selling game in the IP after launching simultaneously across all platforms, including Xbox.

The Silent Hill franchise has come back into the limelight in the last few years, and so far it hasn’t put a foot wrong. The Silent Hill 2 remake was a big success for the seriesselling more than 2.5 million copies worldwide and becoming the franchise’s best-selling title.

With Silent Hill F also posting big numbers both commercially and critically, it’s not hard to see why fans are excited for the upcoming entry in the series, Silent Hill Townfall. However, if the game’s ESRB rating is correct, the horror franchise could skip Xbox at launch once again.

Why it matters: Big IPs skipping Xbox at launch could become a serious issue for the company in the future, as the loss of exclusives, combined with the lack of third-party support, isn’t very healthy.

According to Silent Hill Townfall’s ESRB rating, the game will not be coming to Xbox Series X|S at launch. The horror title’s listing on the website only shows PS5 and PC as launch platforms, with Xbox nowhere to be found.

When Silent Hill Townfall was originally announced in February, the game’s website didn’t show the Xbox Series logo either, with only Steam, Epic Games Store, and PS5 making the cut. Hence, the ESRB rating further solidifies that the survival horror title will skip Xbox at launch.

This isn’t the first time Konami has left out the Microsoft console at launch, with Silent Hill 2 also hitting Xbox Series X|S over a year after its launch on PS5 and PC. One would think that Silent Hill: F becoming the fastest-selling title in the series after coming to Xbox at launch would change Konami’s mind, but that doesn’t seem like the case.

Silent Hill Townfall
The upcoming entry, which is set in Scotland, is likely skipping Xbox at launch.

Regardless, Silent Hill Townfall, which will take the IP’s famous atmospheric horror to Scotland, is set to launch on PS5 and PC later this year.
