Shinji Mikami Discusses Current Dino Crisis Demand!

Story Highlight
  • Capcom has outdone itself with the recent Resident Evil remakes, leading to more demand for similar re-releases.
  • Fans are now requesting the remake of Dino Crisis more than ever.
  • However, the creator of Resident Evil thinks that this game won’t work now because of Monster Hunter’s popularity.

Capcom has been focusing on the Resident Evil franchise lately. However, it also has many games that can still work well as remakes, and Dino Crisis is one of them. The demand for this remake is extremely high, and it is highly likely that Capcom will visit this franchise in the future.

The developer has already confirmed its intention to revive some classic franchises, so fans have high hopes. The Resident Evil creator has also chimed in on the discussion, but he believes Dino Crisis would not work in the modern era.

Why it matters: Due to the high demand, a Dino Crisis revival seems imminent. Therefore, Shinji Mikami’s words may be something to consider for Capcom.

Dino Crisis Is The Most Requested Revival From Capcom

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Shinji Mikami explained that Capcom has already covered the genre with another series. He was rather surprised when asked about Capcom’s plan to make a new Dino Crisis game.

even if I were to decide to make a remake or a new version of Dino Crisis, I don’t really feel like there’s a whole lot of space for that kind of game.

He explained that this is mainly due to Monster Hunter.

Shinji Mikami has made it clear that as long as Monster Hunter is popular, it is difficult for Dino Crisis to be successful. He thinks that even a remake won’t work, and some fans found this surprising.

The fan demand for the franchise says quite the opposite, so Capcom is still likely to try a revival at some point. The last entry in the series was released in 2003, and ever since, fans have wanted a sequel.

It is not clear right now whether Capcom will pursue a sequel or a remake, but fans are optimistic that the publisher will work on this franchise again. A survey has also hinted at an incoming revival, so everyone is looking forward to the eventual return of this IP.
