Reveal Expected By June!

Story Highlight
  • Capcom appears to be preparing for Resident Evil 9.
  • Resident Evil 9 is reportedly set to be revealed soon and will release sometime in January 2025.
  • The game could show up at PlayStation Showcase.

After Resident Evil 4 Remake’s success, audiences keenly await the announcement of the next Resident Evil game.

It seems Capcom is continuing the tradition of alternating between original releases and remakes. A leaker claims Resident Evil 9 is next in line, with the studio targeting a January 2025 launch.

Why it matters: Resident Evil has not evolved much since the release of the 7th mainline title. If the recent reports are anything to go by, Resident Evil 9 is aiming for a major evolution.

Dusk Golem, the renowned leaker who has revealed details on the series before, has now asserted that Resident Evil 9 is going to be revealed soon by Capcom. He believes it will be released in early 2025.

What’s interesting is that the same leaker recently suggested that this entry was delayed and another Resident Evil game would be released before it. He now states that those reports can be pushed aside.

The insider suggests Capcom is making solid progress on this title. He states that it will complete about seven years of development if Capcom decides to go ahead with plans for a January 2025 launch.

Since a PlayStation Showcase is expected in May, Resident Evil 9 may be unveiled at this event. Capcom is known to partner with PlayStation for its marketing, so this would not be too out of the ordinary.

Elsewhere, Xbox is set to host its own showcase in June. This could be another great event to debut the entry.

Dusk Golem states that he will refrain from further Resident Evil 9 leaks. In the past, he has talked about an open-world approach to this title and described it as Capcom’s most ambitious release.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is already one year old, and Capcom has been on a winning streak with this series. Apart from the somewhat mixed reception of the third game’s remake, nearly everything Resident Evil has been well received in recent years.

We hope to see the next release continuing this trend, marking another major breakthrough for survival horror.
