- Embracer’s recent report suggests that Sony could be delaying the PS6 beyond 2027.
- They could launch much later than expected and arrive in 2028, 2029, or even beyond.
- This is due to the ongoing memory crisis that could push the prices too high.
Despite the memory supply still being limited and prices still skyrocketing, the debates of when the next-gen consoles could arrive have already kicked off. While it was being speculated that they could arrive in 2027, the wait might be longer.
According to a recent report, many analysts believe that Sony, at least, is now considering pushing the PS6 beyond 2027. At first, it was rumored to be coming somewhere at the end of 2027, along with the Xbox Helix.
Why it matters: The delay, if real, is quite understandable, as companies will struggle to maintain a solid supply while keeping a decent price tag. So, their best bet would be to wait till the memory situation gets somewhat better.

In Embracer’s recent report, the company outlined that the PS6 is expected to be delayed beyond its current rumored late-2027 release. Instead, it could be pushed to 2028 or even 2029, if things remain like this.
In fact, some analysts believe that Sony is now considering pushing back the debut of its next PlayStation console from 2027 to 2028 or even 2029.

Consoles are popular for their affordability and ease, but the memory prices will push the latter out of context. In fact, there was a huge backlash when Sony recently hiked the prices for its current PS5 lineup.
So, if the next-gen consoles launch at even higher prices, they could be looking at underwhelming sales. However, companies usually order the components in bulk, so Sony might have already prepared the stock, but let’s see.
