Library Is Steadily Growing!

Story Highlights
  • PS5 will celebrate its third anniversary next week.
  • Its library has grown to over 2500 games during this period.
  • Sony will continue this momentum moving forward, releasing a similar number of games on the platform.

The PS5 is nearly three years old. While the initial days were challenging for the console because of the pandemic, PS5 has done a great job living up to Sony’s legacy in the console gaming market.

It has already shipped nearly 42 million units, mainly due to its extensive library, which includes games from all types of genres. In 2023, the console received exclusives like Spider-Man 2, while timed exclusives like Final Fantasy 16 have also been added to this library.

Following such releases, Sony confirmed the PS5 has a library of over 2500 games.

Why it matters: Such a vast and varied library shows that the console has matured, encouraging millions of new people to pick it up.

Over on the PS Blog, Sony thanked fans for purchasing and enjoying games on the PS5 as the console approaches its third anniversary. While reflecting over the past few years, the blog stated:

“Developers have introduced more than 2,500 PS5 games for players to enjoy.”

Sony is preparing for the holiday season, hoping to sell more consoles than before. This preparation is reflected in the console’s supply since the PS5 will now be more widely available than in previous holiday seasons.

A new console is also arriving soon. The PS5 Slim is just days away from its launch, so the gaming giant is making a huge push for sales.

The console manufacturer is preparing various bundles for the PS5, including games like Spider-Man 2, EA Sports FC 24, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with the console.

While this year had a lot to offer, games like Helldivers 2, Tekken 8, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are arriving on PlayStation next year. Therefore, existing and future owners of the console have much to anticipate.

2023 has been an exceptional year for all platforms. However, the PS5, in particular, has performed better than ever. With an abundance of supply and no sign of dropping demand, Sony is hoping to make this holiday season one of its best in recent years.

Therefore, this library of over 2500 games will play a major role in the future success of the console.
