Phantom Liberty Is A Huge Hit!

Story Highlights
  • Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty received a very positive reception upon release.
  • By the end of November, this DLC reached 4.3 million units sold.
  • The expansion has reached a new milestone of 5 million sales, selling an additional 700k copies in just one month.

When Cyberpunk 2077 was released, it was a disaster. However, when we look at it now, the game has turned over a new leaf. There is a huge between the game’s current state and vanilla release.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now used as an example of modern open-world excellence coupled with best-in-class visuals thanks to ray-tracing features. The latest expansion, Phantom Liberty, has made the game even better.

This expansion immediately received positive reviews at release and sold over 4.3 million units by the end of November. CDPR has announced an even more impressive milestone for the DLC now.

Why it matters: Following the studio’s last update, this DLC has sold another 700K units in one month.

According to CDPR’s latest Twitter post, Phantom Liberty sold over 5 million copies last year.

The developer thanked all the players for their support in the tweet. Following this release, the RPG has been visited by hundreds of thousands of players, with the DLC leading to 60K concurrent players in the game at the time of writing.

This milestone was quite well-deserved since the DLC excels in nearly all aspects. Introducing new gameplay elements, memorable characters, and a more refined take on Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty was the missing piece of CDPR’s larger puzzle.

Thanks to this release, Cyberpunk 2077 is now complete. As the last major content drop for CDPR’s recent RPG, Phantom Liberty is quite a triumphant release for the studio.

Evidently, the RPG has come full circle since its 2020 launch, with many even claiming that it could have won Game of the Year if the release build was closer to the current version of the RPG.

Following the buzz around this series and the positive word of mouth, we believe it is safe to say that even more milestones are just around the corner for Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty in 2024.

The team is now busy with the game’s sequel, hoping to introduce more branching stories. Meanwhile, The Witcher 4 is making rapid progress, with CDPR aiming to break new ground again.
