GTA Online Leaks Show Rockstar Made $5 Billion From Shark Cards Alone

Story Highlight
  • GTA Online has made upwards of $5 billion in revenue since its release.
  • This revenue primarily comes from Shark Cards, with leaks revealing Shark Cards sales of $1 million in a single transaction in one instance.
  • Rockstar Games likely expects similar results once the online mode launches for GTA 6.

Rockstar Games suffered a major hack earlier this month, and following the studio’s refusal to pay the hacker group’s ransom fee, private information related to games like GTA 5 is now out in the wild.

Perhaps most interesting is the financial data regarding GTA Online, which confirms a whopping $5 billion in revenue for the service through microtransactions.

Why it matters: It’s no secret that GTA Online has been Rockstar Games and Take-Two’s magnum opus for years, but these figures showcase just how successful the multiplayer title has been over the years.

Take-Two Grand Theft Auto
GTA Online Has Done Wonders For The Series

As reported by VideoTech, figures from the leak highlight GTA Online’s yearly revenue between 2014 and 2026. The game mode started strong with revenue of $21,501,118 in 2014, but it continued to produce incredible figures, like $504,148,348 in the year 2017.

This has remained the case till now, and thanks to the consistency of GTA Online, it has made a whopping $5 billion in revenue to date, largely driven by microtransactions from Shark Card sales.

Estimates showcase that the title has made a total of $5,083,191,048 since its launch. These figures also highlight why the studio is willing to allocate billions of dollars to AAA productions like GTA 6.

Moreover, they set the stage for similar success once GTA Online’s successor launches after the arrival of GTA 6.

GTA 6
GTA 6 Is Expected To Be Huge

Another interesting finding from the leak reveals that someone once bought a whopping $1 million worth of Shark Cards in a single go. Suffice it to say, Rockstar Games has more than secured the series’ future with such results.

Next God of War Reportedly Features Multiple Mythologies

Story Highlight
  • God of War’s next title reportedly features elements from Chinese and Japanese mythology.
  • The game is said to feature Faye as the protagonist, but Kratos is expected to still make an appearance.
  • An official announcement regarding this title is right around the corner, according to recent reports.

The next God of War title is said to be taking a different approach from past entries, leaving behind Kratos as the main character in favor of his wife, Faye.

As PlayStation’s rumored State of Play draws near, anticipation of an official announcement regarding this title continues to grow steadily, and new reports have only added to this excitement. It is now said that PlayStation is experimenting with multiple mythologies in this game.

Why it matters: Many expected God of War to focus on Egyptian mythology moving forward, but the series seems to be headed in a completely different direction.

God of War Faye
Faye Made Her Debut In God of War Ragnarok

According to a report from MP1st via Reddit, God of War is set to incorporate elements of Chinese and Japanese mythologies in the next title.

What makes this report so interesting is that the series has typically stuck to a single mythology in the past, with the two eras of the IP focusing on the Greek and Norse mythologies.

How Santa Monica plans to merge Chinese and Japanese mythologies in the next game remains a mystery for now, but the report does suggest the team is trying something different for the series.

Elsewhere, it is said that the title features a talking sword companion named Merlin. Kratos’ appearance in the next game has also been mentioned, but the extent of his role remains a mystery for now.

God of War
The Series Could Reinvent Itself Soon

Multiple insiders have discussed the possibility of Santa Monica Studio making an official announcement for the title soon, so fans won’t be waiting too long to learn about the different mythologies featured in the next God of War title.

Till then, excitement for the series’ recently announced remakes remains high as fans continue to have high hopes for what comes next.

Xbox Creator Slams Project Helix, Says He’d Pick Steam Machine Instead

Story Highlight
  • Xbox creator says he is vastly more excited for Steam Machine than Project Helix.
  • Blackley says Valve focuses on much cooler games and has player-friendly policies.
  • The Steam Machine feels like a major new release, like what Switch 3 will be like.

The next console generation is going to be very different from what we are used to. PlayStation is expected to drop a home and portable console, while Xbox is set to release a next-gen hybrid console, and Valve the Steam Machine

However, the Xbox creator has slammed the idea of Project Helix and says he prefers the Steam Machine over it. He says that because Valve is focused more on cool games than Xbox, the former’s hardware seems much more exciting.

Why it matters: Steam is undeniably the better platform in terms of games, with its great sales, customer-friendly policies, and a huge lineup of titles, but it seems a little too early to write off Project Helix.

In an interview with The Expansion Pass, Seamus Blackley talked about the future of gaming. The Xbox creator stated that he is vastly more excited for the Steam Machine, and believes everyone should be too.

I am vastly more excited about Steam than about [Project Helix] as a gamer from a content standpoint as, I think, everybody would be or, you know, what’s Switch 3 going to be?

– Seamus Blackley

Steam Machine $1000
Blackley says Valve focuses on much cooler games than Xbox

He stated that it’s something fresh and exciting, like being excited about what the Nintendo Switch 3 would be. Valve focuses on cool games, and as a gamer, that excites him much more than what Xbox has been doing.

However, things might get really interesting as Project Helix is expected to feature multiple storefronts as well, so if it has Steam too, that could change things. Both machines are expected to be priced over $1000, so the competition will be intriguing.

Peter Parker Face Model Teases That Work on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Has Began In A Now Deleted Post

Story Highlight
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 development seems to have begun thanks to a recent tease.
  • Peter Parker face model posted an image in a mocap suit, with the caption “IYKYK”.
  • The title is expected to wrap up the story that began with the original first release.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is often considered the best superhero franchise in gaming, along with the Batman Arkham games. There have been a total of 3 titles so far, but Spider-Man 2 teased a massive showdown for the next game.

And it seems that finally, Insomniac Games has started working on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, as the face model left a teaser in a now-deleted post. He posted an image in motion capture gear, with the iconic Spider-Man web gestures.

Why it matters: The title will most likely be the big end of the chapter for the series, as it could finally be the sinister six game we’ve been waiting for so very long, so fans will be very excited about the start of development.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is teased to be finally in development

Ben Jordan, who serves as the face model for Peter, posted a picture in a mocap rig, with the caption “If you know, you know”, and fans are losing over it, as it is clearly a tease for a new Spider-Man game now in development.

Now, there were also rumors of a Venom game in development as well; however, Insomniac hasn’t really talked about it. Even if the game exists, Venom will be the central character, so Peter might not even show up at all.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2
The game is expected to close the current chapter in the series

Anyhow, this is almost a confirmation that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is now in the works at Insomniac. However, since the mocap seems to have just begun, it could be years away. But we might get an official confirmation at the upcoming rumored State of Play.

Bloodborne Is Being Adapted Into An R-rated Animated Film By Sony And A YouTuber

Story Highlight
  • Sony is making an R-rated Bloodborne animated film in collaboration with YouTuber JackSepticEye.
  • The film will stay true to the gory spirit of the game and is being co-produced by Lyrical Animation.
  • JackSepticEye also assured fans he will deliver the best possible adaptation of the RPG.

It has been over a decade since Bloodborne came out back in 2014. However, Sony and FromSoftware have still not remade or remastered the title for current-gen consoles or PC. Fans are still holding out hope despite many insiders suggesting the prospect of a remake is very low.

Sony’s Bluepoint did pitch a Bloodborne remake to FromSoftware, but it was rejected due to the studio’s unsatisfactory work on the Demon’s Souls remake. Now, we might not be getting a game anytime soon, but an animated film based on the RPG is officially in the works.

Why it matters: Even though most players would prefer a video game, a film adaptation is still a sign that the IP could be in line for a revival at Sony.

As revealed by Variety, Sony Pictures is developing an animated feature film based on Bloodborne in collaboration with YouTuber JackSepticEye. Announced at CinemaCon, the project will be R-rated as per Sony and will stay true to the carnage and gory spirit of the 2014 video game.

PlayStation Productions is co-producing the film with media company Lyrical Animation, which is also working on the Death Stranding animated film. Co-producer JackSepticEye took to Reddit to address Bloodborne fans, saying he is incredibly excited to work on the movie.

The YouTuber stated that he will make sure this is the best possible adaptation of Bloodborne, as the RPG is his favorite game, and he realises how passionate its fans are. He also acknowledged that Bloodborne players are “hungry for more,” addressing the lack of any remake or sequel project based on the IP.

The movie will stay true to the gory nature of the game.

Historically, Sony has always released a game alongside one of its movies and TV shows. Therefore, there could be a possibility that FromSoftware has finally decided to listen to one of the 10 Bloodborne pitches.

Resident Evil Requiem Has Been Completed By A Remarkable 70% Of Players On PC And PS5

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil Requiem has been completed by 70.5% of players on PC.
  • On the other hand, 67% of PS5 users have already finished the main story.
  • These numbers are impressive for a AAA title, as horror games like The Last of Us Part 2 barely surpass 50% completion.

Resident Evil Requiem has turned out to be a bigger success than Capcom could have ever imagined. The horror title has already sold over 6 million copies around the globe, reaching a new concurrent player peak for the franchise on Steam while selling out at physical retailers around the globe.

The game has also been a critical darling, earning the highest user score for the Resident Evil series on Metacritic. Players have been vocal about their appreciation for the title, and new data shows that most buyers have already finished Requiem.

Why it matters: With its moderate length and brilliant pacing, AAA studios should see Requiem as the best example of how long and seamless a $70 title should be.

Over 70% of buyers have attained the Rookie Agent achievement| Source: Steamdb

According to achievement and trophy stats, 70% of players on PC and PS5 have completed the main story of Resident Evil Requiem only a month after launch.

On Steam, exactly 70.5% of players have earned the Rookie Agent achievement, which you get after finishing the game on at least the lowest difficulty. Meanwhile, 66.9% of users on the PS5 have also gained the Rookie Agent trophy for completing their Resident Evil Requiem playthrough.

Compared to other AAA titles, these numbers are really impressive, as other horror entries like The Last of Us Part 2 only surpassed a 50% completion rate several months after launching. No doubt, Resident Evil Requiem being under 20 hours and leaning towards action-horror has helped with these remarkable stats.

PS5 Rookie agent resident evil requiem
Almost 70% of players have also attained the completion trophy on PS5.

But a 70% completion rate is still a cause for celebration, considering how AAA titles reaching even 50% is meant to be a triumph. Silent Hill F, which launched last year, has only been finished by about 40% of its users.

With Resident Evil 10 reportedly already in development, fans who have finished Requiem won’t have to wait a long time before they can delve into another mainline entry from the franchise.

Call Of Duty Playtime And Revenue Dropped On All Platforms In 2025, 60% Drop On PC

Story Highlight
  • Call of Duty saw a massive decrease in playtime and revenue on all platforms in 2025.
  • The franchise’s revenue dropped by almost 65% on PC, while the PlayStation edition resulted in 43% less profit.
  • On the other hand, playtime dropped by 60% on PC while also taking hits on Xbox and PlayStation.

2025 was not the best year for the Call of Duty franchise. Thanks to competition from shooting franchises like Battlefield, the gaming behemoth lost millions in sales, with Black Ops 7 getting a 50% discount only a month after release.

Furthermore, the Xbox Game Pass has also cut into Call of Duty sales, with analysts saying that the service has cannibalised over $300 million in unit sales from the franchise. Now, a new report suggests that the IP struggled substantially on all platforms last year, dropping in both playtime and revenue.

Why it matters: Microsoft and Activision need to realize that players won’t settle for a lack of effort and creativity in Call of Duty anymore, as the industry has a lot of other titles to offer.

Call of Duty
Source: Newzoo

According to research from Newzoo, Call of Duty declined by a huge margin in both Platytime and revenue on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation in 2025. The steepest drop is visible on the PC charts, with the franchise amassing 59.4% less playtime as compared to 2024.

Call of Duty revenue took an even bigger hit on the platform, falling by 64.3% year-on-year after peaking in 2024. Xbox and PlayStation users were also not keen on purchasing the FPS title this time around, with playtime on the consoles dropping by 29.6% and 25.5%, respectively.

The decline in Xbox gameplay hours could be because Call of Duty is not part of the Standard Game Pass tier. However, that did not help with revenue, as it still decreased by 39.1% on Xbox devices while falling by a whopping 42.8% on PlayStation.

Call of Duty playtime
The franchise’s playtime fell on all platforms due to the failure of Black Ops 7.

When you take the dire state of the franchise into account, reports that Xbox is removing Call of Duty from Game Pass start to make sense. Of course, Battlefield taking players away due to its success also played a part.

But the Activision IP will not see a resurgence until players find a compelling incentive to return in the ever-challenging AAA climate.

Do you think Call of Duty can come back from the abysmal 2025 it had? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Xbox Profitability Targets Reportedly Lowered By Management

Story Highlight
  • Xbox management has reportedly reduced margin pressure on its developers and studios.
  • This new approach could lead to more experimentation and creativity within Microsoft’s gaming division.
  • Both first-party studios and hardware are expected to benefit from this change.

Xbox’s continued financial struggles are no secret at this point, and it hasn’t helped that Microsoft has pushed its first-party teams to aim for a 30% profit margin lately.

Following major acquisitions like Bethesda Softworks, Activision Blizzard, and more, Microsoft attempted to look for immediate results in the form of huge profits, but this meant that it put many of its own studios under a lot of pressure. Fortunately, a new report suggests the gaming giant is taking a step back from this approach.

Why it matters: Profitability, now more than ever, is a tricky subject for major game releases, largely due to the costs of AAA productions today. Prioritizing profitability and numbers also limits creativity in game development.

Satya Nadella and Asha Sharma Xbox Project Helix
The Xbox Leadership Seems To Have Eased Off A Bit On Its Profit Targets

According to popular Xbox insider Jez Corden, Xbox has recently reduced margin pressure for its teams.

What this means for first-party teams is unknown for now, but the insider suggests that Xbox now has more room for experimentation. Effectively, the gaming giant will not be limited to prioritizing features or games that have the greatest likelihood of turning a profit.

Because Jez Corden specifically mentioned features and systems, this statement could be referring to software or hardware additions to the Xbox ecosystem. With the next-gen Project Helix expected to arrive in 2027, Microsoft’s gaming division certainly has a chance to experiment with things it may not have otherwise been able to do.

Similarly, studios like Double Fine will likely be able to continue working on experimental and creative projects as a result of this eased pressure.

I’ve heard recently that Xbox has reduced margin pressure from the top down.

Game Pass Could Also Benefit From This Change

This change of heart could also be part of a broader shift at Xbox following Asha Sharma’s appointment as the new CEO of the company. Elsewhere, it is said that the new Xbox head is considering a price drop for Game Pass to offer greater value to its subscribers.

Do you think this new approach will benefit the company in the long run? Share your opinions in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Xbox CEO Believes Game Pass Currently Too Expensive For Players

Story Highlight
  • Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has admitted that Game Pass is too expensive for most players.
  • She hopes to come up with a cost effective solution to this problem in the short term.
  • The Xbox head believes this service is central to value on the platform and is still evolving.

With Asha Sharma running the show after Phil Spencer’s retirement, Xbox has now had a new CEO for over a month. The arrival of a new CEO has led to plenty of hope among fans of Xbox, and Asha Sharma has also said that she is open to sweeping changes if they can help Microsoft’s gaming division in the long term.

Among other things, the new Xbox CEO appears quite concerned about the state of Game Pass. In particular, she has recently noted that the service has become more expensive than it should be.

Why it matters: Xbox recently increased the price of Game Pass Ultimate to $30/month and removed day-one games from every other tier except Game Pass for PC.

Xbox Game Pass First-Party Games
The subscription offers over 100 high-quality games.

New reporting by The Verge’s Tom Warren has uncovered Asha Sharma’s comments on Game Pass from an internal memo to her team.

The memo shows that the Xbox head is well aware of the subscription’s current position. She has admitted that the service needs to offer better value to the players, since the current value proposition is not that great.

Asha Sharma also noted that Game Pass is still evolving into a more flexible system. In the short term, she hopes to introduce a cheaper option for the players while coming up with a more balanced approach for the long term.

Game Pass has become too expensive for players. We need a better value equation.

Ultimately, the Xbox CEO’s comments suggest Game Pass pricing is set to receive a major revision soon, one that will likely please a lot of fans. This is made further evident by the fact that she believes the service is at the heart of Microsoft’s value proposition offerings for gamers.

Asha Sharma
New Xbox head wants to test the waters with new ideas.

This report comes following rumors of Xbox contemplating the removal of Call of Duty from the service. It appears, however, Asha Sharma is interested in a solution that benefits both players and the company.

Intel Core Ultra 400 Brings Massive 52-Core Power At 175W And Built-In AI NPU

Story Highlight
  • Intel’s new CPU lineup features up to 52 cores, nearly doubling the number of cores in previous flagship models.
  • Intel may introduce a new branding tier above Ultra 9 to categorize its highest-end 175W processors.
  • The series introduces the Coyote Cove and Arctic Wolf core architectures, along with an Xe3 integrated GPU.

A lot of new information on the Intel Core Ultra 400 processors, the new generation of desktop processors, has been leaked. The most notable feature of these CPUs is that they will support up to 52 cores. They will also contain a dedicated NPU, support for even faster DDR5 memory, and, of course, a new architecture for the Coyote Cove and Arctic Wolf cores.

Intel Core Ultra 400S

The Intel Core Ultra 400 platform will feature up to five different die/package configurations. Three of them are monolithic or single-tile designs, with the remaining two being dual-die/dual-compute-tile configurations. All variants share a surprisingly identical desktop application base block. This includes four extremely low-efficiency LP E-Core cores, an Intel NPU6, and support for dual-channel DDR5 memory.

Finally, there are 24 PCIe 5.0 lanes, two Thunderbolt 5 connectors, and a compact Xe3 iGPU with two cores. This suggests a very modular strategy; Intel is adjusting CPU and cache sizes while aiming to preserve a common platform basis even at the low end of the spectrum.

Based on an exclusive report by Videocardz, Intel will release at least 13 Intel Core Ultra 400 processors. There will be two very high-end models with a TDP of 175W, one with 52 cores and the other with 44 cores, although neither has a definite brand name. Both CPUs will include 16 high-performance cores. These CPUs could be given new names to differentiate them from the Intel Core Ultra 9 series, which has previously been the company’s flagship offering.

Below you can see quite clearly, Core Ultra 9 with 28 and 22 cores, Core Ultra 7 with 24 and 16 cores, Core Ultra 5 with 22, 12, and 8 cores, and Core Ultra 3 with 6 cores, with power consumption varying from 125W to 35W depending on the model. This makes it clear that Intel intends to greatly widen the Nova Lake-S range, flirting with a quasi-HEDT region in the high-end market. Who knows, perhaps we’re seeing the reintroduction of an Intel Core Ultra X chip, similar to the Intel Core X-Series processors.

Intel Core Ultra S processors family list

The difference between Intel Core Ultra 300 and Core Ultra 400 processors will be astounding. The latest Core Ultra 9 285K technically features 24 cores, DDR5-6400 memory, and a 13 TOPS NPU. A potential Intel Core Ultra 485K or 485X would boost the number of cores to 52 and officially support DDR5-8000.

It would also considerably improve local AI capabilities with 76 TOPS NPU. This does not ensure Intel’s dominance in gaming or efficiency, but it does show that the company has identified multiple Arrow Lake weaknesses and plans to fix them all at once. We’re talking about greater multi-core density, memory bandwidth, and a more AI-focused platform.

It’s important that you know these CPUs will run on a new platform. We’re discussing a motherboard with an Intel LGA1954 socket and an Intel 900-series chipset. This means you can reuse your current cooling system, but not the motherboard. Noctua has already confirmed that its coolers for Intel LGA1700/LGA1851 sockets will also operate with LGA1954, requiring no additional accessories.

This will make it interesting to see if the Intel Core Ultra 400 series can end AMD’s domination with its Ryzen X3D CPUs. To compete with these gaming CPUs, Intel’s processors are expected to have up to 288 MB of cache.

Pragmata Review Roundup – Capcom Is On A Historic Run

Story Highlight
  • Capcom has found yet another hit as Pragmata reviews start to come out.
  • The game has a Metacritic score of 85, with most reviews very positive.
  • This is yet another success for Capcom after Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3.

Capcom has been on a roll in recent years. Not only has it developed fantastic titles consistently over the years, but it also remains one of the few studios that has been profitable for so many years in a row, and it has done it again.

Pragmata reviews have started pouring in, and the title has scored a brilliant 85 on Metacritic, with the majority of the reviews being really positive. This is yet another hit for the studio, amid an already hugely successful year.

Why it matters: After Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3, Capcom has yet again released another fantastic title, showcasing the studio’s consistency and commitment to quality releases.

Pragmata reviews
Pragmata has scored an 85 on Metacritic with glowing reviews

Pragmata has an 85 score on Metacritic, and here are scores from some major media outlets:

  • PSU: 9.5/10
  • Forbes: 9/10
  • TheGamer: 9/10
  • Gamespot: 9/10
  • ScreenRant: 9/10
  • IGN: 8/10
  • VGC: 8/10
  • Metacritic: 85/100

So, Capcom’s sci-fi game’s reception is highly positive overall. The reviews praise it for great innovative gameplay that truly feels fresh, especially in an industry where most studios play it safe and repeat tested formulas.

The title is yet another win for Capcom

The narrative isn’t particularly strong, but it is helped by well developed, excellently written characters. The dynamics of the main characters, Hugh and Diana, are wonderful and add to the overall plot of the title.

And while the combat can feel jarring and repetitive at times in games like these, that isn’t an issue with Pragmata. Overall, Capcom has another hit on its hands, and the game is expected to do well financially as well.

What are your thoughts on Pragmata garnering an 85 score on Metacritic? Are you going to give it a go? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

  • A new Metro game has been in rumors and reports for the last few weeks.
  • Metro 2039 is now finally official and will get its First Look by Xbox on April 16.
  • The title will act as the fourth mainline installment in the popular atmospheric series.

The Metro franchise is widely regarded for its atmospheric horror and immersive survival horror gameplay. Now, rumors of a new entry in the series had been circulating for quite a while, and the title is finally official, and the first look is coming soon.

Xbox and 4A have announced that Metro 2039 will get its first look on April 16 at 10 am Pacific time. This is the 4th mainline entry in the popular franchise by 4A Games, which will build on all the previous entries.

It is hard to currently guess what the plot of the game will be. But since it’ll be a direct sequel, we can expect it to be a continuation and connect to the previous game. We might even see some characters return.

Metro 2039 officially announced by 4A Games

Nonetheless, we currently don’t really know anything about the title except for its first look date. However, the wait isn’t too long, and hopefully, most of the questions will be answered, and perhaps even a release window.
