- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake has many fans criticizing the game’s visual style.
- Many believe the game looks too realistic and resembles an Unreal Engine 5 project, with some also calling it AI slop.
- Those who are fond of the visuals say that the upcoming remake looks better than the 3DS rendition from several years ago.
Nintendo recently announced a November 5 release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, and while many are looking forward to getting their hands on the title, various fans have had one common point of contention with the recent footage.
It appears fans don’t necessarily like the art style Nintendo has picked for the remake, dubbing it similar to an Unreal Engine 5 fan project.
Why it matters: Ocarina of Time Remake will compete with GTA 6 later this year, so fans being split on the game could become a major problem.
And this is exactly why I was hoping Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake wouldnt be 1:1, biggest map in the game & it's tiny in 2026
And it looks like a fan project made in Unreal Engine from 10-15 years ago

Fans say that Nintendo’s choice of art style resembles Unreal Engine 5 playable fan demos from a few years ago.
Many have pointed out that the original Ocarina of Time had a very distinct and gorgeous visual identity, so the remake going in this direction has been quite disappointing. In particular, the character models stand out and look quite uncanny due to Ocarina of Time Remake’s visual design.
Some have even compared the difference in art direction to Bluepoint Games’ take on Demon’s Souls, noting that Nintendo has effectively given Ocarina of Time a similar treatment.
Others have gone as far as calling The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake AI slop, noting that it looks similar to what an AI would come up with when given a prompt related to the series.
This Ocarina of time remake looks like actual slop. Gen ai "What if Zelda realistic"

Of course, not everyone disagrees with Nintendo’s choice for the remake’s visual style. Some have argued that the team has remained quite faithful to the original game, expressing their excitement for the upcoming release.
In particular, such fans find that the remake looks quite a bit better than Nintendo’s 3DS rendition of the beloved classic.
