Nvidia will be giving away a custom version of its GeForce RTX 4090 in the coming days as part of Doom’s 30th anniversary celebration. This price will be given to the winner of a contest that is currently running on X/Twitter and other social media platforms.
Even though this is not the first time Nvidia has participated in a custom graphics card giveaway, throughout the year, the price of the custom GeForce RTX 4090 listed on the promotion has gone down significantly.
The price of the GeForce RTX 4090 in the first promotion was listed at $1,980 MSRP. This came down to $1599 in September, and the latest promotion lists it just below $1400.
I think Nvidia just accidentally leaked updated RTX 4090 pricing ($1,389).
I assume this will correlate with the 4090 SUPER launch in the next couple months.

For now, the GeForce RTX 4090 retails around $2000 despite Nvidia setting an MSRP of $1600 back in 2022. The price can vary from country to country, but it usually does not fall below $1800-1850 in the US market.
While we aren’t exactly sure why Nvidia listed such a low price, this may have something to do with the rumored GeForce RTX 40 super lineup. This lineup is expected to show up at CES 2024, potentially bringing a price drop for the GeForce RTX 4090 along the way.
If true, this would be encouraging for the rest of Nvidia’s lineup. With similar price cuts, mid-range and more budget graphics cards could be priced lower than initially expected, leading to a healthy GPU market once again.
However, Nvidia recently confirmed that it no longer considers itself a primarily graphics-based company. Through an internal email, it announced that Nvidia is now an AI-centric brand.
While a 4090 Super has not shown up in any recent rumors, Nvidia may have plans to unveil a refresh for its strongest gaming graphics card. With a fully unlocked AD102 GPU, this graphics card would be a sight to behold if it shows up at CES 2024.
