In January of 2021, Bethesda announced that MachineGames, the developer behind the recent Wolfenstein games, is developing an Indiana Jones game.
Many fans have been looking forward to hearing more about the game since then, but the project is likely not ready to be shown yet. However, we spotted an interesting piece of information on the LinkedIn profile of a Concept Artist at MachineGames; and it looks like MachineGames might be working on multiple Indiana Jones projects.
Todd Howard has previously stated that Indiana Jones is a mashup of various genres. Moreover, it has been reported that the upcoming game might not be an Xbox exclusive, which could be part of Microsoft’s strategy of bringing games to a wider audience.
Todd Howard also called the game a definitive love letter to Indiana Jones. Additionally, the teaser trailer hinted at the game being set in Rome, taking place a year after Raiders of The Lost Ark in 1937.
Multiple projects could allow the developer to explore various settings and periods. While Todd Howard has already hinted at a mixture of genres for Indiana Jones, a second project could be a completely different style of game for the IP.
It remains to be seen if there are indeed multiple Indiana Jones games in development, but if that is the case, the excitement surrounding the franchise will grow further.
There has not been an official word from Bethesda or MachineGames, so it would be best to take this news with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, multiple Indiana Jones games would likely be a welcome addition to the growing library of Xbox games, adding even more value to Xbox Game Pass.
