Metro Exodus Sequel Announcement Expected!

Gamescom 2023 is right around the corner. The event will feature companies like Xbox and Nintendo, leading to anticipation for new announcements and trailers. 4A Games, the studio behind the Metro franchise, will also attend the event.

The Metro franchise has become famous for its thrilling first-person gameplay in a post-apocalyptic setting. 4A Games’ latest offering, Metro Exodus, was released over four years ago in 2019, and the studio may be gearing up for a new reveal at Gamescom.

According to the event’s official list, 4A Games will attend as an exhibitor.

Why it matters: In the past, Gamescom has been a popular event for new game announcements. The event’s appeal makes it a common choice for studios looking to make an impact with new announcements.

Metro Exodus

Not too long ago, a reliable leaker claimed that the studio was developing a sequel to Metro Exodus.

The report claimed the new game was nearing completion, with 4A Games aiming for a 2024 release window. Additionally, the leaker suggested that the game could be revealed in 2023.

The game is expected to follow the traditional Metro gameplay loop. This involves elements like crafting, looting, and stealth segments. 4A Games has also confirmed that the game is being built to fully utilize the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X consoles.

Looking at the previous evidence, an announcement at Gamescom does not seem too far-fetched. The studio has likely made enough progress to showcase the game to audiences worldwide, and Gamescom would serve as a great venue for this reveal.

Geoff Keighley is also returning to Gamsecom, hosting Opening Night Live on August 22. Therefore, 4A Games’ upcoming title may be featured during this showcase.

With a new Metro game to be potentially announced, Gamescom is shaping up to be an incredible event for FPS fanatics. Xbox has also confirmed that the much anticipated Stalker 2 will be playable at Gamescom 2023. Therefore, FPS fans have plenty of reasons to look forward to the event in late August.
