Marvel’s Wolverine was announced in 2021 at the PlayStation Showcase without any release window. Four years later, PlayStation still hasn’t shown any new footage or gameplay, and a new update suggests it may not be coming out soon.
According to a new document shared by Sony, both Intergalactic and Marvel’s Wolverine are future tentpole titles without a specific release window. However, one thing is certain: they won’t be released until at least March 2026.
Why it matters: Fans are worried about the state of Marvel’s Wolverine, considering there have been so many different showcase events since its announcement, and it’s always been a no-show.
Sony talked about its PlayStation division in its latest Business Segment Meeting. There is a list of all the previous and upcoming annual tentpole releases, which says Marvel’s Wolverine is ‘upcoming’, but it definitely isn’t in this fiscal year.
For FY2025, the only 2 major releases will be Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2. Fans were already worried when Wolverine skipped the recent State of Play, and this new development proves we still have a lot to wait.
Many fans are also questioning Sony’s development strategy. They claim that announcing games this many years in advance gives a bad image, and the company should be more careful about its announcements.
What’s even more worrying is that we are yet to see how the game feels. The only glimpses we had of it were through the massive Sony leaks a couple of years ago that leaked an early playable build of the game.
