Mafia 3 was released back in 2016, so it has almost been a decade since the last iteration in the franchise was revealed. So, fans have been waiting for the next title in the franchise for a long time now.
Mafia: The Old Country, one of the most hyped titles of 2025, has made an appearance at the Summer Game Fest, and fans have loved it. A story trailer for the title has been released, revealing some crucial information regarding the plot.
Why it matters: The next game in the franchise is just less than 2 months away, so the fandom is very hyped.
The trailer emphasises the importance of loyalty within a family, which is particularly crucial in such games. The Mafia has certain codes that must be followed, so respect and loyalty are essential.
The trailer reveals more important things, like what process you will have to go through in order to get wealth, and the process of joining the Torrisi crime family. It also showcases what happens when someone shows disloyalty in the family.
The game is set to be released on 8th August, and it won’t feature the bloated open world. Fans weren’t really happy with how Mafia 3 had a bloated open world, so they requested that the developer feature a linear world instead, and the developer listened.
While the game doesn’t cost like your average AAA game, it may come with microtransactions. Nonetheless, the game’s hype is at an all-time high, so the reception on launch may be very positive.
