Intel is expected to launch a new lineup for its 13th generation lineup, the Black Edition processors, which will be exclusively sold in China. The two new processors joining the 13th generation Black Edition lineup would be Intel Core i5-13490F and Core i7-13790F.
The two new upcoming Black Edition processors were also spotted on Intel MDDDS last month as well. Like its predecessor, the 13th generation Black Edition chip will also be a Chinese-exclusive variant.
The Intel 12th generation Core i5-12490F was the first Black Edition processor, though it did not get much attention due to its price. The Intel Core-i5 12490F was initially priced above the regular Intel Core i5-12400. Still, it was later discounted, making it a feasible option to replace its predecessor in the Chinese market.
Regarding specs, the Intel Core i5-13490F is similar to the Core i5-13400F and will come equipped with 6 performance and 4 efficiency cores, or 12 cores and 16 threads.
With the additional cache, the Black Edition Intel Core i5-13490F will offer a slight frequency boost up to 4.8 GHz. The new processor will offer 24MB of L3 and 9.5MB of L2 cache compared to 20MB of L3 and 9.5MB of L2 cache on the Intel Core-i5 13400F.
The slight increase in frequency and cache will boost the Core i5-13490F, making it 5% faster in single-core and 8.5% more quickly in multi-core performance compared to the Intel Core i5 13400F.
There is no release date mentioned for the upcoming two new Black Edition chips from Intel, though we don’t expect Intel to make a huge announcement, as the chips for only intended to be sold in the Chinese market.
