RTX 3070 For 1440p/60FPS High Settings!

Story Highlights
  • Horizon Forbidden West has received official PC system requirements.
  • The requirements for all settings are quite reasonable, hinting at a high-quality PC port.
  • Users with an RTX 3060 will be able to run the game at 60FPS at 1080p resolution.

The Horizon Forbidden West PC launch is just around the corner, and Sony has revealed the system requirements. Fortunately, the requirements suggest that the title will be a well-optimized one at launch, unlike many of the PC ports from 2023.

Why it matters: PlayStation has a good reputation when it comes to PC ports. However, poor releases like The Last of Us Part 1 have been a few missteps from Sony in the past.

Horizon Forbidden West System Requirements

Users with a minimum of an Nvidia GTX 1650 4GB or AMD RX 5500XT will be able to play the title at 720p 30FPS. An RTX 3060 will also run the game at a more respectable 1080p 60FPS.

According to Steam’s February 2024 hardware survey, both the GTX 1650 and RTX 3060 are the most popular GPUs among users. Therefore, the majority of PC gamers will be able to play Horizon Forbidden West.

The game will also come with DLSS. These requirements do not take upscaling into account, so Nvidia users can look forward to even better performance when using AI-based upscaling.

For 60FPS at 1440p, PC gamers will need a GeForce RTX 3070 or a Radeon RX 6800. Pushing the graphics further, Horizon Forbidden West demands a GeForce RTX 4080 or a Radeon RX 7900 XT for 4K 60FPS.

All configurations will work well with 16GB of RAM.

Moreover, the game will require 150GB of free SSD storage.

This was expected as the complete edition already takes up around 120GB on the PlayStation 5. While these requirements appear promising, real-world performance will be the best indicator of the port’s quality later this month.

The Horizon Zero Dawn port was far from the best, but PlayStation has become much more experienced in this market since then. This release is still the best-selling PlayStation PC port, so it will be interesting to see how the sequel holds up on the platform.

Overall, the Horizon Forbidden West system requirements are quite modest, and we are hoping for a high-quality experience at launch.
