Next Horizon Game Confirmed!

Since its initial release in 2017, the Horizon franchise has proven to be a successful IP for PlayStation, with two main entries and a VR game under its belt. However, Guerrilla Games has seemingly confirmed that Aloy’s journey is far from finished.

In a new blog post, Guerrilla Games confirmed that a sequel to Horizon Forbidden West is in development.

PlayStation 5 Horizon Forbidden West

While the blog post was dedicated to their Studio Director and Executive Producer, Angie Smets, who will be starting a new role as Head of Development Strategy at PlayStation Studios, Guerrilla Games ended the blog with a teaser for Aloy’s next adventures in the franchise.

The blog states:

“We have full confidence in our new leadership as they steer Guerrilla towards a bright future, expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy’s next adventure.”

The Horizon games have proven to be quite a hit for PlayStation, and judging by their critical reception, it should not be surprising that a third entry in the franchise is in the works. With over 20 million copies sold, the first game alone made the Horizon franchise a staple for PlayStation moving forward.

The latest entry, Horizon Forbidden West, also ended with a teaser and a cliffhanger, which points to Aloy’s next journey. However, Horizon 3 is not the only upcoming game from the developer.

Guerrilla Games is working on an online project in the universe, and previous hints have also pointed to the game releasing on mobile platforms.

The last entry in the series, Horizon Forbidden West, was also a massive success for PlayStation and recently received the Burning Shores DLC expansion.

Guerrilla now has a new leadership structure, with Joel Eschler as the Studio Director and Production Director, and it will be exciting to see future Horizon projects under this new leadership.
