Hogwarts Legacy Leading Against Tough Competition!

Hogwarts Legacy is one of the best releases of 2023, receiving positive reviews from critics and fans. The game has been extremely successful, making around $850 million in just two weeks.

Hogwarts Legacy shattered sales expectations, selling over twice as many copies as expected. While its performance has already been impressive, Gameindustry reports Hogwarts Legacy has been Europe’s top-selling game of 2023 so far.

Why it matters: The current year has been stacked with competition. Games like Diablo 4 and Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom have sold over 10 million copies, but the Harry Potter fandom has ensured Hogwarts Legacy has stayed ahead.

Unsurprisingly, Diablo 4 is the second best-selling game on the list.

It quickly became the fastest-selling Blizzard game, with 10 million players enjoying the game in June. Since Diablo 4 is the latest game on the list, its performance is also the most impressive.

However, it is not surprising for Hogwarts Legacy to attain the top spot on Europe’s best-sellers list. The game had plenty of anticipation behind the project, and it was the first Harry Potter game in several years.

It allowed players to immerse themselves in the universe through a created character. This, combined with the impressive production values, ensured that all players enjoyed the game.

The Harry Potter IP has also been controversial. While the game faced a boycott due to the controversy, this boycott gave it even more attention, leading to stunning sales figures.

The data reveals Hogwarts Legacy has already shipped 69% more units than Elden Ring’s shipments from last year in a similar time frame. However, this data is based on the first six months, so it could change drastically by the end of the year.

With its current progress, Diablo 4 appears to be on track to reach the top spot, but games like Starfield and Spider-Man 2 are also expected to be massive in 2023.
