Hogwarts Legacy Sold Over Twice As Many Copies As Expected

Significantly Higher Sales Than Expected!

Hogwarts Legacy was released more than two months ago, and on launch, it took the internet by storm. The game features beautiful graphics and widely appealing gameplay. Fans loved the game so much that it became the most-played Steam Deck game of March.

A few days after launch, Hogwarts Legacy reached 700k concurrent players and made around $850 million in just two weeks. The game also sold 12 million copies in just two weeks, despite the boycott going on about the game due to the controversy of the IP.

While the sales figures are already impressive, Warner Bros. Senior Global Brand Manager’s LinkedIn profile reveals that Hogwarts Legacy has sold over twice as many copies as expected.

The game sold 256% of what was expected. Prior to its launch, Hogwarts Legacy had a strong marketing push with gameplay and trailers. Many were already convinced by the footage, and this led to a strong opening for the game.

Since its launch, Hogwarts Leacy has been making highlights, receiving positive reviews even from critics. Due to the popularity of the Harry Potter IP, many had already expected the game to be one of the biggest releases of 2023.

However, Hogwarts Legacy has gone above and beyond, even exceeding the publisher’s expectations by a considerable margin. The game is not entirely set on the 12 million mark, as this figure was announced two weeks after launch. We can expect a new figure in the company’s future earnings report.

In terms of future content, there is no DLC planned. But this could change now that the game has become a worldwide phenomenon.

More content would only add to the excellent reception of the game, as the fanbase is huge, and they would like something more. With a new DLC, the game could remain relevant for a long time, continuing to sell at a steady pace.

What do you think of Hogwarts Legacy exceeding the publisher’s expectations? Have you played Hogwarts Legacy? Will you pick it up later? Let’s discuss this in the comments below.
