Over a week after launch, the verdict on Halo: Campaign Evolved is in, and the game has proven to be quite divisive among longtime fans. The remake also appears to have done particularly poorly on PlayStation.
Now, one of the franchise’s original creators has weighed in, and he seems to like a lot of what Halo Studios has brought to the table.
Why it matters: Halo: Campaign Evolved reportedly suffered from plenty of challenges during development, so the fact that the team still managed to get a lot right with the remake is impressive in itself.
Marcus Lehto, also known as a Halo co-creator and former Bungie creative lead, has recently wrapped up Halo: Campaign Evolved. Taking to Twitter, he praised the remake’s overall improvements.
Lehto said he likes many of the upgrades being made for Halo: Campaign Evolved, with the visuals being a particular focus of his praise. The former Bungie developer also noted that the team did a fantastic job with the movement and game feel.
Elsewhere, he shared a few criticisms of the title. In particular, he pointed to the game’s frequent use of hints, noting that this change panders to a new era of players with limited attention spans.
I think the hints are too HEAVY-HANDED, pandering to a new era of players with 0% attention span.
The good news is that the Halo co-creator ultimately likes most of what he has played of Campaign Evolved. This is a good sign, especially since Halo Studios’ recent work has failed to impress audiences.
