Half-Life is one of the most iconic names in all video games. Valve’s franchise was one of the pioneers of the first-person shooter gameplay cherished by millions of fans today. The game also led to the creation of Counter-Strike which has stayed among Steam’s most played games to this day.

In 2020, Valve released Half-Life Alyx, a VR first-person shooter. The game was received well, and many considered it a showcase for VR gaming. Half-Life Alyx showed fans a glimpse of a modern Half-Life game, but many have been left wanting more. The last main entry in the Half-Life franchise was released over 15 years ago, and fans have been waiting patiently since then.

A new video from Youtuber ENFANT TERRIBLE aims to give fans a glimpse of a modern HALF-LIFE. The video above shows a concept trailer for Half-Life 3 running at 4K resolution on Unreal Engine 5.

The concept looks absolutely breathtaking. The lighting, in particular seems very impressive, capturing the mysterious and menacing atmosphere of the demo. Gordan Freeman also looks better than ever, with a highly detailed rendition of the beloved character.

The trailer has given fans a taste of what modern technology has made possible. Techniques like Ray-Tracing combined with 4K resolution could make for an immersive experience in the Half-Life universe like never before.

ENFANT TERRIBLE has utilized tools like Blender, Substance 3D Painter, Photoshop, Zbrush, and more to bring the demo to life. The trailer has impressed fans, and comments on the YouTube video are filled with nostalgic fans reminiscing about their time with the franchise.

While demand for Half-Life 3 has always been there, Valve doesn’t seem interested in a new addition to their legendary franchise. Though the video above is nothing short of jaw-dropping, the possibilities for a brand new game are endless.

Fans will likely continue to wait for an eventual sequel. If a third entry in the franchise ever sees the light of day, it will undoubtedly be a monumental day for the gaming industry and fans worldwide.
