GTA 6 Chose Netflix Marketing To Appeal To Gamers Who Wouldn’t Buy It Day-One

GTA 6 Is Going Above And Beyond To Reach Players!

Story Highlight
  • An insider reports that GTA 6’s Netflix premiere is designed to reach people who may not buy the game on day one.
  • Many fans previously criticized this move, but Take-Two says this is Rockstar’s attempt at something different.
  • The Netflix showcase is only one part of GTA 6’s wider marketing efforts, which will kick off later this month.

Fans are not too happy with Rockstar’s Netflix marketing deal for GTA 6, but Take-Two is convinced this strategy will work out in the long run. In fact, a new report sheds light on why the two have joined forces.

It is said that Rockstar and Take-Two aim to reach a broader audience for GTA 6 using Netflix.

Why it matters: The Netflix name has become synonymous with television today, making it the streaming service of choice for millions of consumers across the globe.

As per Jason Schreier’s reporting, GTA 6’s Netflix marketing deal is less about convincing hardcore fans and more about reaching players who are not already committed to buying the game at launch.

He notes that Strauss Zelnick is convinced viewers will tune in for the GTA 6 preview, noting that it wouldn’t feel too different from watching an important part of a beloved TV series.

Moreover, Take-Two feels there is an audience the team will reach on Netflix. As such, it makes sense that the Netflix deal isn’t particularly appealing to longtime fans of the series.

Is there an audience you are reaching there (Netflix) that might not otherwise be looking at gameplay of GTA 6? He said, “I do think there’s a reasoning behind this.”

Staying true to his cryptic nature, Strauss Zelnick stated that fans would understand the studio’s decision further after watching the Netflix premiere.

GTA 6 Could Set A New Record On Netflix

Of course, one could argue that GTA 6 doesn’t need Netflix’s exposure to begin with, but the fact that Rockstar and Take-Two are going so far with the marketing shows just how big the teams’ goals are this time around.

What do you think about GTA 6’s Netflix deal? Do you think it will reach an audience that wouldn’t necessarily buy the game?
