GTA 5 Became Best-Selling Game of July In Europe

Red Redemption 2 At The 3rd Spot!

GTA 5’s 10th anniversary is approaching steadily, with less than a month before the game turns 10. However, the game’s age has not stopped it from remaining relevant in the gaming industry.

GTA 5 never fails to surprise, selling over 185 million units to date. This makes it the most successful release for Rockstar Games, with the game also topping the best-sellers charts in Europe last month.

Why it matters: 2023 has no shortage of appealing games, but more people were interested in the latest Grand Theft Auto entry than new releases like Diablo 4 and Hogwarts Legacy last month in Europe.

According to the report, GTA 5 earned the title of the best-selling game of July in Europe.

This means that it comfortably beat the likes of Diablo 4, Fifa 23, and Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2, marking two entries from the developer in the three best-selling games of the month.

It should be noted the list does not include the data for digital sales of Nintendo games. The Legend of Zelda may have ranked higher with this data, but GTA 5 would have likely stayed at the top spot.

Major discounts on GTA 5 played a massive role in the game’s current position. Comparatively, the newest games are still priced much higher, providing an advantage to the nearly decade-old release.

While GTA 5 is still going strong, rumblings of Rockstar Games’ next big Grand Theft Auto release have already started.

Take-Two has teased the April 2024 – March 2025 release window twice, hinting that GTA 6 will be available to the masses in less than two years. Hopes are also high for a small but meaningful teaser for the game on the 10th anniversary of GTA 5.
