Gotham Knights Rating Points To Nintendo Switch Release

Might Be Announced On 1st Anniversary!

Gotham Knights is the latest release from WB Games Montreal. The studio previously led the development of Batman Arkham Origins, a prequel set in Rocksteady Studios’ Batman Arkham franchise.

However, the game did not look too exciting in the promotional material and ended up disappointing at release. It received negative reviews for underwhelming gameplay and poor performance on PC and consoles.

Nonetheless, the game may be gearing up for a new release on another platform, as Gotham Knights was recently rated for the Nintendo Switch.

Why it matters: Batman is coming to the Nintendo console in a big way with the Batman Arkham games. Gotham Knights would mark yet another release from Batman’s history that could join the Nintendo platform.

As spotted by the Twitter user, the game has been rated for the Nintendo Switch. While ratings never guarantee a release on a particular platform, they have been known to spill the beans about new releases ahead of official announcements.

In addition to the rating from Singapore, the ESRB has rated Gotham Knights for the console. This, along with the upcoming presence of Batman on the platform, makes a Nintendo Switch release appear more likely.

Gotham Knights was released on October 21 last year, and its first anniversary is quickly approaching. Therefore, an announcement for the new release could be made as a celebration of the first anniversary.

While the prospect of Gotham Knights on the go may be exciting, a Nintendo Switch release is surprising after the game received a poor reception.

It also suffered from performance issues at launch, so it will be interesting to see if WB Games Montreal can optimize the hypothetical release for a weaker hybrid console like the Nintendo Switch.

Gotham Knights mostly failed to live up to the legacy of the Batman Arkham games and WB Games Montreal’s Batman Arkham Origins, which has earned a reputation of being an underrated gem by some.

Nonetheless, another release could bring the game back into the spotlight, potentially bringing thousands of new players to the title.
