GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Leak Shows Underwhelming Specifications

Another Disappointing Release Coming Up?

Nvidia is set to launch its latest GPU in the XX60 series based on the new Ada Lovelace architecture. If priced right, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti might be the most exciting RTX 40 series lineup launch. But according to rumored specs, the card might not be as good as its predecessor.

According to a listing from a Russian distributor, the upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, at least on paper, does not look as impressive as its predecessor. However, specs on paper do not define the whole story, and the new Ada Lovelace architecture should bring extra performance.

GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Listing

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is now rumored to come equipped with 4,352 CUDA cores, an 11% decrease compared to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Furthermore, the card will also feature fewer RT and Tensor cores. But unlike Ampere, the new Ada Lovelace architecture utilizes Nvidia’s latest 4th generation Tensor and 3rd generation RT cores. So the performance might be similar or a bit better.

The Russian Distributor Marvel has listed four custom Palit GeForce RTX 4060 Ti variants. Aside from the cooler and OC differences, all four cards have 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit interface.

Compared to the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, its predecessor used a 256-bit memory interface. On the other hand, the memory on the GeForce RTX 3060 runs on a 192-bit interface. A 128-bit bus is underwhelming for a graphics card that is from the Ti-tier and is generally used for low-end cards like the GeForce RTX 3050.

Limited by a 128-bit memory interface, the 8 GB GDDR6 memory on the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti has a memory bandwidth of only 288 GB/s. That is about 36% lower than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti which can deliver 448 GB/s of memory bandwidth. However, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti does have a large 32 MB L2 Cache. This should help minimize the decrease in memory bandwidth speed somewhat.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti launch is just around the corner, and Nvidia is expected to ship its new mid-range cards to its respective channel starting May 5th, 2023. Aside from Palit, 8 new variants from Gigabyte were also spotted at EEC, ranging from high-end to entry-level cards.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti will have a big launch due to the high number of variants from different manufacturers. Hopefully, the performance and price of the upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 Ti will be up to the mark.
