- Now, in a new tech demo showcasing The Witcher 4 on Unreal Engine 5.6, Ciri looks a lot different.
- She looks closer to what she looked like in The Witcher 3, which has the fandom thrilled.
The Witcher 4’s reveal was arguably one of the biggest ones in the gaming industry, mainly because of how well the third part is still treated. The reveal was met with many positive impressions, but a massive amount of fandom was disappointed.
They were disappointed because, according to them, Ciri looked more masculine than feminine. Now, recently, more Witcher 4 goodness was revealed, and from the looks of it, CDPR listened to the fandom’s feedback and changed Ciri’s face.
Why it matters: Playing as a female lead that isn’t appealing often sparks controversy. Intergalactic is another example of such controversy.
While fans were previously upset, they are absolutely thrilled over the fact that CDPR listens to their feedback and has made Ciri look a lot more feminine. She now looks close to what she looked like in The Witcher 3.
Totally lowered and softened the cheekbones. Definitely changed her to be more feminine.
Looking badass and feminine. Still wondering how they’ll explain away the Witcher transformation. Maybe that’s part of the game story.

While fans are pretty happy, there are still some concerns. A lot of fans are concerned about whether CDPR fixed the lore, too. It seems like the fandom thinks that Ciri can never be a Witcher, which ruins the story for them.
However, if you read the books, then it is open to the reader’s interpretation whether Ciri can become a Witcher or not. The books don’t explicitly state whether Ciri undergoes the trial, but it doesn’t dismiss it either.
So, there shouldn’t be much concern here, as in-game, there would be some lore explaining why and how Ciri was able to become a Witcher.
Next issue lore. She can be the main character but she can not be a Witcher.
An improvement, but she’s still a poor choice for Witcher 4. Her story ended in Witcher 3.
