Xbox's Portfolio Is Loaded This Year!

Story Highlight
  • Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake is allegedly coming out in late spring or early summer this year.
  • It is rumoured to be in development by Virtuous Entertainment and features a lot of gameplay enhancements.
  • Xbox did not announce the remake at its latest Developer Direct, but more information is expected soon.

After having a dry spell for the last two years, Xbox appears to be loaded with many confirmed releases for 2025. However, it has still yet to announce Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake, which is one of the most anticipated new titles.

Now, one of the most credible industry insiders says that the remake of the RPG is coming out sooner than we expected this year.

Why it matters: If the rumors from various sources are to be believed, the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake might turn out to be one of Xbox’s unexpected surprises despite not appearing at Developer Direct this year.

The Elder Scrolls 6
Elder Scrolls 6 is also in development, which might not satisfy everyone, according to a Bethesda veteran.

In a new newsletter for The Verge, Tom Warren mentions that Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake is set to launch during the late spring or early summer 2025 period. An exact release date still remains unknown, however.

For those not in the know, another rumor also suggested that Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake was headed for a release this year. So, the release window appears to be pretty credible.

It is reportedly in development by Virtuous Entertainment using a blend of Unreal Engine 5 and the game’s original engine. The remake is expected to feature many enhancements that add to the survival and gameplay experience.

Elder Scrolls 5
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake has been reportedly in development for a few years now.

However, it is best to take this rumor mill with a pinch of salt, as the title has yet to be officially announced by Xbox. For all we know, it might turn out to be a measly remaster, like another string of rumors suggested last year.

Will the rumored remake meet everyone’s expectations, or are we just looking at a visual upgrade? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.
