Dead Space 2 Remake Has Been Teased Again By EA

Another Great Remake Could Be Coming Up!

Story Highlights
  • Last year’s Dead Space Remake was a major hit for EA.
  • EA’s latest artwork seems to be hinting at the second game.
  • This is not the first time EA has teased Dead Space 2 Remake.

Dead Space Remake was one of the earliest hits of 2023. EA Motive’s work on the franchise earned critical acclaim from the industry, also garnering praise from series creator Glenn Scofield.

Following this success, it was evident that EA had a golden goose on its hand. The publisher previously sent out surveys asking fans whether they wanted another remake.

Several months later, it seems to have dropped another teaser for Dead Space 2 Remake.

Why it matters: The first remake added more than a fresh coat of paint to the game, introducing multiple new elements. Therefore, future remakes have the potential for further expansion.

Dead Space Remake Was One of Last Year’s Best-Looking Games

EA has recently promoted new merch for the franchise on Twitter. While this is nothing out of the ordinary, the publisher has decided to use official Dead Space 2 artwork instead of the more recent art from Dead Space Remake.

This detail immediately caught the attention of curious fans, sparking waves of speculation. Considering EA has hinted at a second remake in the previous survey and the resounding success of the first, this art seems to be another intentional teaser.

Following in Resident Evil’s footsteps, Dead Space 2 Remake is the obvious next step for this publisher. Amid recent layoffs, it also confirmed intentions of exploring internal IPs more often, further increasing the likelihood of a second remake.

Still, it should be noted that a second remake would not arrive soon unless EA plans to shift development to another studio.

EA Motive currently has its hands full with an open-world Iron Man project. With no release date for this game in sight, work on the next remake may not begin for a few more years.

The studio has also made the jump to Unreal Engine 5. Therefore, Dead Space 2 Remake could be based on this engine if EA Motive is brought back, possibly taking up more resources.

Nonetheless, the prospect of a second Dead Space Remake is exciting. Motive finished the first game in just over two years, and the first attempt was a home run. If the next game maintains a similar level of quality, it could be another hit for EA.

The team could also tackle Dead Space 3 eventually since the writer has already expressed interest in a remake. Until then, however, fans can try the original game for cheap as part of EA Play.
