Crimson Desert Keeps On Winning Months After Launch!

Story Highlight
  • Crimson Desert has won the Best International Game trophy at the China Game Innovation Awards.
  • The event was held during the China Joy Expo, the country’s biggest game show.
  • This recognition comes after the game snagged the Best Technical Innovation Award in the UK last month.

Crimson Desert has surpassed all expectations and set new golden standards in the industry for single-player titles that no one deemed possible before. The title sold like hotcakes and became one of the best-received entries to come out in recent years.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the entry has already won multiple accolades since its release. Crimson Desert has now been recognized as the best international game to launch in China this year.

It has now won the Best International Game trophy at the China Game Innovation Awards 2026 event (CGIA 2026).

Why it matters: Crimson Desert is among the best single-player releases of this decade, with its game engine allowing for a breathtaking open world with smooth optimization and emergent gameplay. Therefore, the title is expected to win even more awards in the future.

As reported by various South Korean news outlets like Gamemeca, the event was held at China’s biggest game show, China Joy Expo, where demo sessions for Crimson Desert were also held.

The award ceremony was hosted by the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association and run by the Chinese game platform TapTap.

Now in its 6th year, the award show evaluates games for innovation, technology, and creativity and selects the most outstanding project and the team behind it for the Best International Game trophy.

Crimson Desert stood out in all the aforementioned ways that earned it the staggering recognition in China.

This milestone also comes after Crimson Desert hogged the Best Technical Innovation Award in the UK at the Develop Star Awards 2026, winning after Pearl Abyss’ in-house Blackspace Engine defeated Sony’s Decima and DOOM’s idTech 8 engine.

At the moment, Pearl Abyss is officially working on DLCs for Crimson Desert after completing its initial roadmap way ahead of time.
