Black Myth: Wukong immediately left its mark on the gaming industry after developer Game Science debuted a gameplay presentation that showed never-before-seen scale in a Souls-like.
Since then, this project has been through various changes and iterations, with 2024 finally bringing fans closer to the upcoming launch. With just a few more months left before release, the anticipation is at an all-time high.
The biggest proof of the buzz for this release is that Black Myth: Wukong is now Steam’s most wishlisted title.
Why it matters: This list has no shortage of big games, making it impressive for a newcomer like Black Myth: Wukong to reach the number one spot.
Steam’s wishlist rankings have fluctuated quite a bit recently.
For many months, Manor Lords reigned supreme, while games like Stalker 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong followed closely behind. Black Myth: Wukong has also been among the top five games for a while.
However, with the likes of Hades 2 and Manor Lords now released, Hollow Knight: Silksong nowhere in sight, and Stalker 2 still several months away, Game Science’s upcoming Souls-like has managed to claim the number one spot for itself.
At the time of writing, this title is less than three months away from launch. Moreover, with Summer Game Fest coming in the next two weeks, Game Science could debut another exciting look at this Journey To The West-based odyssey that fans are so excited about.
This would create another wave of excitement, helping this title maintain its position on Steam’s list.
If recent releases like Manor Lords and Hades 2 are any indication, Black Myth: Wukong will be a huge hit on Steam.
To reach the top spot, the game has likely been wishlisted by millions of users, so it might become yet another success story for a relatively unknown studio this year. Between Manor Lords, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, and more, there’s been no shortage of those in 2024.
