Biomutant is a third-person action role-playing game by developer Experiment 101. The game was anticipated by fans all over the world and launched in May 2021.

Despite launching several months after the next-generation console, Biomutant did not have a native PS5 version at launch. However, a next-generation version has been expected for some time.

It seems like Biomutant’s long-awaited next-generation port is finally here. A PS5 version for the game has been published on PSN’s backend, suggesting an imminent release.

This was discovered by Redditor, u/the_andshrew. In the past, he spotted PSN classics on the backend and those games have now shown up as part of the new PlayStation Plus offerings. Therefore, his findings have proven to be reliable in the past.

  • Concept ID: 229899

The game currently runs at 30 fps on PS4 and 60 fps on the PS4 Pro. However, neither version of the game supports up to 4K resolutions. The PS4 version runs at 1080p while the PS4 Pro version supports a dynamic resolution between 1080p and 1440p.

A native PlayStation 5 version should easily help the game achieve a 4K resolution. Furthermore, the Xbox Series X version of the game already runs at a 4K resolution so it makes sense that the PlayStation 5 would eventually get support for the resolution as well.

Upon launch, Biomutant received mediocre reviews. However, the gameplay is still solid and the game managed to sell over a million copies by August. Existing fans will be pleased with this update and the game could even end up attracting a brand new audience with the hype around a PlayStation 5 version.
