A 73 on Metacritic With Tons of Glaring Issues!

Story Highlight
  • Beast of Reincarnation had a lot of expectations but has fallen short of its potential.
  • The title debuted with mixed reviews, with a Metacritic score of just 73.
  • The title is filled with technical issues, a weak story, repetitive fights, and more.

Developed by Pokémon creators, Game Freak, Beast of Reincarnation has massive expectations. It is a single-player action RPG with fast-paced combat and was described as somewhat of a mix of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The game’s reviews are finally in, and it has failed to impress the critics despite the hype around it. It has a 73 score on Metacritic, and overall reviews agree that the game feels repetitive and has tons of technical issues.

Why it matters: The ambition is there, and the reviewers have praised its combat, but there are so many underlying issues that the game feels restricted and has fallen short of the huge expectations riding on its back.

Beast of Reincarnation Review
Beast of Reincarnation has debuted to mixed reviews despite massive hype

Beast of Reincarnation has debuted to a mixed reception. The biggest problems seem to be with the PC and Xbox versions, where the optimization and technical issues are so bad that they make the experience unplayable at times.

The PS5 version is slightly better but still has problems. While this can be improved with a patch, other things are harder to fix. There are a few enemy variations, repetitive sequences, bad cutscenes, and boring boss fights.

The title had massive expectations from players

There are complaints about the semi-open-world as well. The world is vast, but it feels mostly empty. Overall, the reviews don’t point towards another Black Myth Wukong as most people expected the title to be.
