Huge W For The Series S, And A Reality Check For All The Lazy Devs!

Story Highlight
  • Testing shows Xbox Series S can deliver brilliant results if games are optimized well.
  • It visually manages to stack up to the more powerful consoles in Battlefield 6.
  • The only drawback is the locked 60 FPS, while the others can do up to 120 FPS.

Xbox Series S is often labelled as the bottleneck for game optimization. Developers state that the console is too weak to handle modern AAA gaming, which in turn affects the other consoles. However, Battlefield 6’s performance proves it can do well.

Testing reveals that the Battlefield 6 Xbox Series S performance is excellent for its price. While it doesn’t deliver the high FPS gaming like its more powerful counterparts, it manages to hold up in the visual department.

Why it matters: Games often appear significantly worse on the Series S, with some even skipping the console entirely, but Battlefield 6 demonstrates that proper optimization can unlock its full potential.

Detailed testing and comparison by ElAnalistaDeBits, the visual quality of Battlefield 6 on all current-gen consoles is quite similar. The PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X provide two performance modes, whereas the Series S has only one.

The more powerful consoles aim for 120 FPS in performance but rarely achieve it. On Balanced mode, all consoles hit a solid 60 FPS, with even Series S showing very consistent performance across the board.

Battlefield 6 shows that the Series S can do well with proper optimization.

The overall fidelity and visual quality of Series S impressively go toe-to-toe with the others. However, it does have a smaller draw distance and no screen space reflections, which are expected as it is lower powered and cheaper than the others.

Nonetheless, this proves that if time and effort are put into it, the Series S can deliver great visuals while keeping solid performance. This could also give a solid case for other developers to follow and try harder with Series S ports.
