AMD Debuts Anti-Lag 2 Preview For Counter-Strike 2

No Need To Worry About Bans Anymore!

Story Highlight
  • AMD’s Anti-Lag+ led to bans for users relying on this technology.
  • AMD responded by introducing Anti-Lag 2, featuring a revamped algorithm requiring game integration.
  • Radeon Anti-Lag 2 promises latency reduction of up to 37%, and it has been developed in collaboration with Valve.

With Anti-Lag+, AMD attempted to compete with Nvidia’s Reflex by reducing latency, but the move backfired badly when gamers who activated it began to be blacklisted. Anti-cheat software was triggered due to the technology’s driver-side implementation, which altered game files and caused the problem.

AMD responded to this by releasing a new driver without Anti-Lag+ support, though it always intended to reintroduce the technology. The company has now introduced Anti-Lag 2, a new driver with a brand new algorithm.

Unlike Anti-Lag+, this new technology requires game integration.

Why it matters: This limitation will help AMD avoid the bans but makes Anti-Lag 2 much more limited for the time being.

Benchmarks via AMD

Since the new version does not use the previous driver-level integration method, it is integrated directly into the game filesThis implies that support will vary depending on the game.

Although it may initially seem inferior, Radeon Anti-Lag 2 is quite impressive. The new technology was developed in collaboration with Valve, which implemented bans for Counter-Strike 2 users after the Anti-Lag+ problems arose.

This collaboration guarantees that the new version has been extensively tested before deployment and that no restrictions will be imposed on its use. In addition, the latest version surpasses its predecessor in every way possible.

The red team displayed several benchmarks for its Radeon RX 7000 and 700M integrated graphics cards, which have significantly reduced latency compared to the previous model.

According to AMD’s testing, Radeon Anti-Lag 2 technology reduces latency by an average of 37%. A technical preview version of Anti-Lag 2 is also accessible, allowing users to test the technology in Counter-Strike 2.

While Counter-Strike 2 has already been updated, you must download a specific driver from AMD to use this functionality fully.
