Alan Wake 2 Also Delayed Due To Spider-Man!

Alone in the Dark is a classic horror IP of the 1990s that is getting a reboot for modern audiences. With over 20 hours of playtime, the game intends to provide an atmospheric experience that sticks with players for several years.

The game was initially announced with an October 25 release date. However, the studio has just announced a delay for Alone in the Dark, pushing it back to avoid competition with games like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Alan Wake 2.

Why it matters: October, in particular, is packed with highly-anticipated AAA titles, leading to some studios being overwhelmed due to the potential competition.

Following the delay, the developer issued a statement, clarifying that it did not want to compete with Alan Wake 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The studio said:

“We intend to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the biggest blockbuster release for PS5 in the second half of 2023.

PlayStation has already made it clear that the game was made without any compromises to ensure a worthy follow-up to Insomniac Games’ popular Spider-Man franchise that began in 2018.

On the other hand, Alan Wake 2 marks Remedy Entertainment and Alan Wake’s return to the industry after several years, with Remedy Entertainment claiming that it is the most important project for the studio.

Alone in the Dark also has plenty of anticipation behind the project, but the studio believes that the game will be able to thrive in 2024 without massive competition from other titles in the industry.

In addition to Alone in the Dark, games like Alan Wake 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage also went through a change in release date recently.

In the former’s case, Remedy Entertainment made it clear that the game was delayed for a similar reason, moving the game away from competitors like Super Mario Bros Wonder and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

This delay ensures Alone in the Dark fans can look forward to a more polished version of the game since the team has a few more months till release. Fans can also enjoy the other titles coming out in October till January 2024.
