New Plague Title In Development!

A Plague Tale: Innocence was released in 2019, and following that, its sequel was released on October 17, 2022. Both games in the franchise were well-received and loved by the fandom and critics.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was a massive success for Asobo Studio as the game managed to sell over 1 million copies in just two weeks. Following its release, the game was verified for Steam Deck and now supports 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The developer appears to have already begun development on the third entry in the franchise, with various job listings hinting A Plague Tale 3 may be in development.

Why it matters: The franchise has become famous for its gut-wrenching narrative and engaging gameplay. Therefore, Asobo Studio will likely find plenty of success with another release.

The job listings were posted on Asobo’s LinkedIn page and can also be found on the studio’s career page. As seen above, the developer has a number of job ads for Flight Simulator, but the studio is also hiring for the Plague Team.

For the job listings regarding the Plague Team, it is mentioned that Asobo Studio is recruiting the members:

“to strengthen the team behind ‘A Plague Tale: Requiem’ from the pre-production phase.”

Additionally, one job listing for the Plague Team states:

“You have played A Plague Tale: Innocence and/or Requiem.”

This indicates that the development of the next Plague Tale game has already begun, and an announcement could be made soon.

Asobo Studio has close ties with Microsoft. The studio leads development on Microsoft Flight Simulator, and the latest Plague Tale title was also released on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

This could mean that the next game will receive similar treatment.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was released more than three years after A Plague Tale: Innocence, so it is likely that A Plague Tale 3 will require similar development time.

However, the latest game from the developer was larger in scope. Therefore, the third title could expand on gameplay mechanics even further, which would also lead to a longer development time.

Aside from that, a TV show for the series is currently in development. Not much is known about the TV Show, but it will be based on the same story from the previous two games. The Director behind Inglorious Bastards is also involved in the project, leading to high expectations.
