Samsung has always been known for its excellent hardware, always jam-packed with intriguing specifications, and Samsung’s high-quality trademark. Samsung is known for its industry-leading innovation, as proven by recently winning 71 iF Design Awards, including three Gold Awards for its product designs (Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Bespoke Slim vacuum cleaner & Freestyle Projector).
In terms of Galaxy Smartphones, we all are well aware that Samsung Galaxy Screens are stunning and are one of, if not the finest, on the market. Every year, the latest Galaxy phones feature better and brighter OLED screens than the previous year, and popular YouTubers frequently praise Samsung for their panels.
Now with increased demand, as reported by the sources of BusinessKorea, Samsung has increased its use of Chinese and Taiwanese business partners for key smartphone components.
“Samsung Electronics will procure 3.5 million and 3 million OLED panels for Galaxy smartphones from BOE and CSOT, respectively, in 2022,” At a showcase conference sponsored by UBI Research, a market research organization, Yasuo Nakane, a researcher at Mizuho Securities in Japan, said.
According to Yasuo Nakane, Samsung Electronics expects demand for OLED panels for Galaxy smartphones to increase, estimated to be 155.5 million units in 2022. To meet this demand, BOE and CSOT will supply 3.5 million and 3 million units, respectively, while Samsung Display will deliver 149 million units (or 96 percent of the total volume).
Chinese display manufacturers have made significant efforts to gain a competitive advantage over Korean competitors in the OLED market. As a result, they can penetrate the market and be part of Samsung Electronics’ supply chain. CSOT is a display division, part of TCL, a Chinese home appliance firm.
CSOT is now delivering Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy M series screens in India. The Chinese display manufacturer hosted a gathering at its factory in India on April 5 to mark the first shipment of OLED panels.
According to reports, BOE and CSOT were also involved in the panel development process for Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy A37 in 2021. Among the Galaxy A affordable smartphone series, which was immensely appreciated by the market. It means that Samsung truly believes that BOE and CSOT are up to the mark and gives them a competitive edge in terms of their costing.
BOE had previously entered the Apple iPhone OLED supply chain. Following Samsung Display and LG Display, it is Apple’s third-panel supplier. So far, the Chinese panel maker has only supplied OLED panels for repair and replacement, but its panels are expected to be used in future iPhones.
It’s hardly surprising, given Samsung’s reputation for not being scared to adopt change and embrace innovation more than anyone else in the industry. Despite its initial problems, Samsung was the first to enter the foldable business and bring it to a retail customer level. Since then, Samsung has established a stronghold in the foldable market, even leading it.
Samsung is also reportedly working on a new single hinge mechanism for their future Galaxy Fold Phone, demonstrating that the company is not afraid to experiment and find new ways to improve its efficiency and productivity.
