- Shannon Loftis, an Xbox veteran, has called the company a “clownshow” under Asha Sharma.
- Loftis claims that the gaming giant has lost moral character under the new leadership.
- The former executive bashed Sharma and her leadership cohort for how they handled Helen Chiang’s departure.
Regardless of what people think about Asha Sharma’s tenure as Xbox CEO so far, the new boss has certainly made the company relevant in the gaming world once again. Sharma has made a flurry of decisions to bring the fans back on board, including bringing exclusives back to the platform.
However, analysts suggest that while the new CEO’s strategy is garnering praise from players, it isn’t showing up financially. Now, after firing its new COO last month, Xbox is back in the news for all the wrong reasons, and a former executive has called out the dysfunction at the company under Sharma’s stewardship.
Why it matters: It would be insincere to say that Asha Sharma hasn’t made good decisions at Xbox. However, the company keeps making mistakes at a time it isn’t afforded any.

Shannon Loftis, a former Xbox veteran, has called the company’s functioning under Asha Sharma a “clownshow”, saying that she feels terrible for people who have to put up with it.
While posting on LinkedIn in response to Helen Chiang, the COO who was allegedly fired for violating Microsoft policy, Loftis claimed that the Xbox leadership has lost moral character. The former executive provided support to Chiang, who herself indirectly called out the Xbox CEO for spreading lies about her departure.
Loftis, who worked at Microsoft for 29 years and oversaw the Age of Empires franchise, bashed Asha Sharma and her cohort for how they handled the Helen Chiang situation, claiming that a real CEO would have pursued the leaker who falsely stated that Chiang was fired for policy breaches.

With Gears of War: E-Day failing to sell even 500k copies on a $500 million budget and Xbox once again missing its annual targets, the criticism from Loftis and Chiang has only added to Asha Sharma’s misery. Reports suggest that the CEO is already planning more rounds of layoffs, meaning that the gaming giant’s PR will suffer even more.
