RTX 5080 Set For $300 Price Hike In China, Similar Increases Expected To Follow Worldwide

RTX 5080 16GB Will Reportedly Be Discontinued Ahead Of 24 GB Model!

Story Highlight
  • The RTX 5080 16 GB has seen a $300 price hike in China. It is now going for $1900-$2020.
  • The 16 GB variant will allegedly be discontinued, which has raised the RTX 5070 Ti price by ~$90.
  • ASUS and Gigabyte have also raised factory pricing on RTX 5080 and other cards in China.

The gaming industry has been hit by the brunt of GPU and memory price hikes since late last year, and the apocalypse only appears to be getting worse with time. RTX 5090 prices even climbed over the $5,090 mark recently, as AI firms continue to buy pallets of GPUs.

New reports now reveal that the wholesale prices of the RTX 5080 16 GB variant have increased over ¥2000 ($300), pushing its total price to around ¥15000 ($2020).

Why it matters: These price adjustments often appear first in Asian markets before slipping into the US/EU markets over the following weeks, so these GPUs are about to get exorbitant hikes worldwide in the near future.

As per Chinese industry Board Channels, the RTX 5080 16 GB variant will be discontinued, with a 5080 24 GB model taking its place. The RTX 5070 Ti also saw a price bump of ~$90 (¥600) as a result. Its current price ranges between $1445 and $1475 (¥9650 and ¥9850).

RTX 5080 with 24 GB VRAM will take RTX 5090’s spot, as many manufacturers have called it discontinued despite Nvidia’s contradictory response. The new 24 GB model is expected to go for $3000. Regardless, Nvidia has not officially confirmed its existence yet.

Board Channels also reports that ASUS and Gigabyte raised factory pricing on October 20 for RTX 5080 and various other cards. The ASUS RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti cards are now ~$150 and ~$30 more expensive.

Meanwhile, the Gigabyte 5080 and 5070 Ti cards will now cost ~$180 and ~$30 more as well. The rest of the price hikes can be seen below:

These price hikes are a result of worsening GPU supply, inflating memory costs, and industry migration towards high-margin HBM memory production.

Unfortunately, even more price increases may hit the global GPU market as memory makers expect the industry to struggle until at least late 2028.

Do you think Nvidia will eventually bring these RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti price increases to the global market over the coming weeks? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
